The Property Dingwood Park is a beautifully-proportioned Grade II* Listed property. Its main section forms a substantial square, framed by the unusual exterior corner fireplaces. It was built for a local family, the Wall family, originally of Newent and whose heraldic shields grace the front elevation. Different sources date the property to 1683, 1690 and 1700. Pevsner dates it to 1700 and this resonates with the Queen Anne motif of a narrower central window in the front elevation. Dingwood Park has been elegantly and sympathetically renovated by the current owners and it is now a superb country residence, more impressive than its modest Listed description: ‘Small country house. Circa 1690’. The property retains some fine period features: the stone mullion and transom windows to some sections, large sash windows to others; oak staircase, stunning, ornate hand-crafted stucco ceilings and superb fireplaces. The front door, with fanlight over, opens into the main hallway with the two principal reception rooms to either side. The sitting room, which enjoys afternoon and evening sun, has window-seats under the elegant sashes, a gently rounded fireplace with wood-burning stove and elegantly ornate stucco ceiling featuring roses, oak leaves and floral sprays, and was originally the ladies’ drawing room. Across the hallway, also west- facing, was the mens’ drawing room with slightly cleaner, starker panels to the ceiling and a grand yet simple stone fireplace. This room leads to the dining room which again features a superb corner fireplace within the main section of the house. The kitchen/breakfast room is spacious, elegant and yet homely. It has a range of bespoke units topped with granite work surfaces and a cream, four oven Aga.
