THE INSTITUTE
The Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO) is a public monographic cancer center. It treats the disease comprehensively, as the organization covers prevention, patient care, specialist training and 16 research; it is the first center of this kind in Spain. 17 It is a public company, which was created in 13 1995 by the Department of Health of the Catalan 19 Government and began operations in 1996 in Duran 18 i Reynals Hospital in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat.
