Heather Stanton is an associate in the firm’s Litigation Practice Group. Before entering law school, Heather was an insurance agent and spent 18 months in as a research assistant for historians at Albert-Ludwigs-Universität and the University of .

Representative Matters

■ Obtained judgment for client and a $119,000 fee award after a two-day jury trial in a real estate matter.

■ Defeated two cases against insurance company client and obtained a directed verdict on all counterclaims, including a fee award and permanent injunction.

■ Represented a homeowners association that prevailed in a lawsuit against three homeowners renting their houses as short-term vacation rentals, in breach of the CC&Rs.

■ Obtained summary judgment for a big box store client by establishing statutory immunity from suit.

■ Represented a retail store sued by its landlord for terminating its lease agreement, successfully moving for judgment on the pleadings and for lawyers’ fees.

■ Resolved multiple cases for institutional clients via settlement negotiations, often well below settlement authority.

■ Defended a big box store in a negligence lawsuit and obtained a judgment for the client.

■ Represented a pro bono client in removal proceedings, in which the client was granted asylum.

■ Successfully appealed to the Ninth Circuit a denial of asylum on behalf of a survivor of FGM and abuse.

■ Obtained several favorable pre-trial rulings concerning the admissibility of evidence after oral argument.
