Overview

Experience the majestic mountains, beautiful rainforests and sustainability efforts of in and Whistler. Start with a FlyOver experience, sitting in flight-simulating seats while watching a film of iconic Canadian views. Explore the University of British Columbia (UBC), learning from a UBC sustainability lecture. Follow the Tour Director on the UBC Sustainability Tour, stopping by seven green buildings to see what sustainability looks like in practice. At the Beaty Biodiversity Museum, view some of the 500 jaw-dropping exhibits, from 82-foot long blue whale skeletons to dinosaur trackways.

Connect the science of sustainability, starting with an ascent to the top of to see the largest alternative energy source in British Columbia, a wind turbine and engage in a sustainability workshop. On a day trip to Whistler, take photos in front of the Olympic Rings and ride the Sea to Sky Gondola, floating through the air from the safety of the gondola cabin with a bird’s-eye view of the natural wonderland below. Gain a better understanding of ecology while practicing wilderness survival skills and develop ideas to improve resource management in the Maple Ridge woods. Relax and play team games in the urban rainforest, , which is an excellent example of cities setting up recreation space for plants and people to flourish together. Daily Itinerary (6 Days)

DAY 1 TRAVEL TO VANCOUVER – SEE THE SIGHTS Arrive in Vancouver for a guided sightseeing tour of , , , Stanley Park and . Take a virtual flight over Canada with FlyOver Canada, where the audience rides their seats while watching a film that captures numerous cities across the country. DAY 2 VANCOUVER – SUSTAINABLE INNOVATIONS Join the discussion as an informed participant after a sustainability lecture at the University of British Columbia (UBC). View the natural museum exhibits at Beaty Biodiversity Museum on the UBC campus. Explore the innovative green buildings of UBC on the Sustainability Walking Tour, guided by the Tour Director. DAY 3 VANCOUVER AND GROUSE MOUNTAIN – WIND ENERGY AND WALKING TOUR Gain an awareness of alternative energy sources in a sustainability workshop on Grouse Mountain, experiencing the power of the wind turbine up close. On an architectural walking tour of Vancouver neighborhoods, stroll through Chinatown, Gastown, , Downtown, West End and Strathcona. DAY 4 VANCOUVER AND WHISTLER – NATURAL WONDERLAND Take a day trip to Whistler, traveling along the Sea to Sky Highway and the Sea to Sky Gondola ride. DAY 5 VANCOUVER AND MAPLE RIDGE – CONNECT TO NATURE Spend the day outdoors, developing a deeper understanding of forest ecosystems, enhancing ecological knowledge, practicing wilderness survival skills and considering the impact humans have on the environment. • Outdoor learning workshop in Maple Ridge

DAY 6 VANCOUVER TO HOME – PLAY AT THE PARK Play team games in the urban rainforest of Stanley Park before the journey home. • Team games at Stanley Park • Depart Vancouver for home
