Dutch - Summer Tour 2019

Organized by: Rotary Club Bodegraven and Rotary Voorhout Period: July 6 to July 20 2019 Age: 16-18 Participate: 14 participants Conditions: Maximum of 2 participants per country (preferably 1 male and 1 female per country) Theme: Water, a way of living Requirements: Fluency/good in English required, can swim, can cycle, Accommodation: You will stay at Rotary families. We appreciate your participation in family life. Cost: €100 euro for the program. Travel cost to The by participants. Point of arrival is Schiphol Airport (AMS) or - Airport (RTM). You will be picked up at the airport. Don’t forget your pocket money. Insurance: Participants must have travel and health insurance for The Netherlands. Water, a way of living

First week: July 6 till July 13 2019 Where: Bodegraven, South , The Netherlands Sponsor Club: RC Bodegraven (District 1570)

This week will bring you to the wonderful province of the Netherlands. To be more specific, you will be in Bodegraven, located in the green heart of the urbanized area of The Netherlands. After your stay, you are an expert in water matters!

Water to swim in. Water to sail upon. Water from the sea. Water to fight against. Water that became land. Water in the canals of Amsterdam and The Hague Program Welkom in Holland!!

Saturday July 6 Arrival day!! End of the afternoon we organize a welcome party to get to know each other, each culture and the local families.

Sunday July 7 Sports on Sunday, active program in and on the water. Swimming in the water, sailing on the water, skiing behind a very fast boat probably in the water a.s.o.

Monday July 8 The Hague, the heart of our government, famous interactive Madurodam, and Scheveningen, fisherman city

Tuesday July 9 Day @ the Beach. The Netherlands have a strong connection with the sea. This day will be spent at the beach at Katwijk with all kinds of activities

Wednesday July 10 Today we will visit one of the biggest harbours of the world: Rotterdam. Talking about water!! You will never forget this! In the evening you will prepare dinner at ‘The kookstation’

Thursday July 11 After a calm start of the day you will enjoy cycling through the green heart of our region, visit Gouda with her cheese market. And have an evening for yourself

Friday July 12 Boxing clinic and…. Shopping time. In the evening we will have a farewell party.

Saturday July 13 Transfer day, we will lunch together with the other Rotary club as the start of your second week in The Netherlands. Second week: July 13 till July 20 2019 Where: Voorhout, South Holland, The Netherlands Sponsor Club: Rotary Club Voorhout (District 1600)

The second week you will be in Voorhout, located in the middle of ‘de Bollenstreek’, the flower bulb area, behind the dunes at the coastline of the North Sea and not far from the cities of Leiden and Amsterdam.

Saturday July 13 In the afternoon you will have a ‘delicious’ start of the second week: you will not only be tasting some Dutch specialties, you are going to make your own: the ‘stroopwafels’. After that we will have a nice-to-meet-you party in your new ‘hometown for one week’.

Sunday July 14 After a lazy Sunday morning, we will do a treasure hunt in the old university city of Leiden. In the evening there will be a BBQ.

Monday July 15 Be ready for a BootCamp in Noordwijk with some challenging activities. In the afternoon some swimming and relaxing at the beach or in the local swimmingpool.

Tuesday July 16 Exploring the ‘Bollenstreek’, a region that is famous for its tulips, hyacinths and daffodils. Every year many millions of bulbs are exported throughout the world. In the afternoon a special golf clinic.

Wednesday July 17 Fifty years ago Neil Armstrong was the first man on the moon. A behind-the-scenes visit at Space Expo in Noordwijk will be an unforgettable experience. In the afternoon, sport activities at the beach.

Thursday July 18 A longboat trip to see our region from the water , including some water activities, like sailing, swimming and more. In the evening you will be part of a special RotaryClub meeting , dinner included and the chef needs your help!

Friday July 19 Off course, we will visit Amsterdam with its many highlights and historical centre, also allowing time for shopping. Finally, on our last evening together, there will be a farewell party. Saturday July 20 Transfer day, departure from the airport.
