Happenings around school… From Fr. Theby 1st Grade learned how to use the Dear Parishioners, Reading Counts Program on iPads

This coming week is testing week in the schools 2nd Grade had Baptism show & tell throughout the Archdiocese, when our students take 5th Grade began Server Training standardized tests to tell us better how they are doing 7th Grade is beginning their novel Fever 1793 about and how we as schools are doing. Philadelphia and its malaria outbreak. 8th Grade is researching and blogging about world Next weekend is Stewardship Sunday in the Archdio- issues that they connect to and want to find solutions cese, a time to reflect on how we can make best use of for. the many gifts that God has given us.

Perhaps these two events can serve as a reminder to 8th Grade using the Outdoor Classroom take an inventory of our spiritual lives to see how we have been responding to God's great gift of faith and offer of relationship.

It would do us all a great deal of spiritual good if we took some time this week to do this, which is com- monly called an examen. Simply set aside some time in a quiet place and start by asking the light of the Ho- ly Spirit. Then look through the period of time you want to examen (year, month, week, day) and think about events, thoughts, feeling. What happened? What did it make me feel or think about? Where was God in this day or event? As we think of these things, we ask the Lord to show us where we allowed Him to walk 6th Grade Archeological Dig to uncover the past with us and where we didn't. We then resolve to avoid those things that keep us from walking with the Lord. This he lps us to see God at work and to continue to chose His path instead of our own.

It is always good to take a spiritual inventory, to see how we are doing in our spiritual lives. It takes effort and honesty and sometimes even going to the Sacra- ment of Reconciliation, but it always helps us to grow in our relationship with God.

Have a blessed week!

Fr. Jim Theby
