• SUNDAY, the weekly commemoration of the Resurrection, the Creation, and the gift of the Holy Spirit, is the principal Holy Day. Saints’ days at this season are:

Notes / Dates

• Wednesday 4 June: The Archbishop is hosting a day Seminar in the College of Education, , on “Building a Discipleship Culture” for all clergy and lay representatives of the United Dioceses. This follows a recent visit by the Archbishop to the Diocese of Sheffield in England and last autumn’s ‘Diocesan Growth’ Forum.

• Sunday 8 June: Annual Ecumenical Service at St. Columcille’s (Columba’s) Holy Well, Ballycullen Road, at 3.00 p.m. Being Pentecost Sunday, the theme this year is “Inspired by the Spirit”. The preacher on this occasion is Fr. Eanna Ó’hÓbaín, Parish Priest of St. Colmcille’s parish, Knocklyon. Any person is welcome - it helps to bring you own seating! The Service is preceded by a Nature Talk in the grounds of the Holy Well, beginning at 2.30 p.m. (Note Monday 9 June is the Feast Day of St. Colmcille or St. Columba).

• Sundays 8-15 June: Ecumenical Bible Week:

Ecumenical Bible Week organised by the local Christian Churches in

Dublin and Glendalough takes place from 8 th -15 th June and is

entitled “Together in One Place” Acts 2.1, Exploring the Bible again

for the first time.

th The Opening Event takes Place on Pentecost Sunday 8 June at 3pm in Trinity Chapel, Trinity College.

During the week the following are the different themes to be explored in relation to the Bible:

• Bible and Film • Bible and Music • Exploring and Praying the Bible • Bible and Contemporary Issues

There are a number of venues where Ecumenical Bible Week will take place but the closest to Whitechurch is Zion Parish Hall, .

th There is a Special Event called ‘Thinking Allowed’ on Thursday 12 June at 7.30pm in All Hallows College, Gracepark Road, Drumcondra and the topic is “What the Bible means to me”. Speakers/presenters that you may be familiar with are Fr. Dr. Kieron O’Mahony, Archbishop Michael Jackson, Archbishop Diarmuid Martin and Philip Mc Kinley.

th The Closing Event will be held on Trinity Sunday 15 June at 3-00 p.m. at All Hallows College Gracepark Road, Drumcondra.

• Tuesday 24 June: Graduation ceremony for sixth class pupils who are leaving Whitechurch N.S., at 1.00 p.m.

• Thursday 26 June: ‘End of Year’ School service, for Whitechurch N.S in the church, 10.30 a.m.

• ‘May Fete’ - Please study our noticeboards for the latest update on our May Fête. We re-iterate our very sincere thanks to all who helped on the day, in such a wide variety of ways. Two Fête fundraising details still remain:- P.T.O. 6
