Veterinary Supplies and Drugs Commonly Used in Dogfighting
Although many of the following vitamins, drugs, and veterinary supplies have legitimate uses, they are commonly found in connection with illegal dogfighting operations. In addition, many of the substances used by human athletes for legal and illegal conditioning have found their way into dogfighting. A list of substances banned for human use by the National Football League is included.
Vitamins
• Multivitamin supplements (may be specific for dogs or include mixtures intended for equines, livestock or humans) • Vitamin B-12 (injectable) • Liver and iron extract (to increase red blood cell level) • Clovite conditioner (vitamin A, D, and B-12 supplement) • Stress-Dex (oral electrolyte with vitamins) • Vitamin B-15 (acts as catalyst to allow red blood to carry more oxygen and decreases lactic acid in muscle)
Drugs
• Stimulants - Speed (methamphetamine pills, capsules, or injectable solution for stimulating a dog) • Dexamethazone (Azium-an anti-inflammatory agent that reduces swelling, • delays shock, and relieves muscle pain and soreness) • Male hormones and androgenic steroids (testosterone derivatives used to build • muscle mass and increase aggression. Includes testosterone propionate, Repotesr, Probolic Oil; Winstrol , Dinabol, and EquiPoise and others (see NFL list) • Epinephrine • Furosemide (injectable diuretic) • Painkillers (Talivin, Dilaudid, codeine) • Antibiotics and combiotics (injectable, tablets, and capsules) • Nitrofurazone antibiotic gel • Prednisone (anti-inflammatory agent) • Pad-Kote (topical ointment for foot pads)

Veterinary Supplies
• IV kit, syringes, and needles in various sizes • Saline, lactated Ringer’s solution for controlling shock, fluid loss • Sutures, suture needles, and needle holders • Surgical staplers for easy would closing • Forceps, scalpel, and surgical scissors • Alcohol prep pads and cotton-tipped applicators • Sponges • Dressing for wounds • Blood hemoglobin test kits • Surgical lamps
