WHAT ARE NEIGHBORHOOD GREENWAYS? MANOR AVE Neighborhood greenways are located on lower-volume, residential streets and prioritize NEIGHBORHOOD the comfort and safety of people walking and riding their bikes. Neighborhood greenways have slower motor vehicle speeds, less cut- GREENWAY through motor vehicle traffic, and improve COMPLETE STREETS PROJECT connections to nearby destinations for all modes of transportation by incorporating traffic calming, pavement markings, and signage.

MANOR AVE & MONTROSE AVE A new refuge island will make it more comfortable for people walking and biking across Montrose to access Horner Park via a new shared use path and the Manor neighborhood greenway. The refuge island will still allow left- turning motorists to enter the Manor neighborhood greenway, but will restrict HORNER motorists traveling south on Manor from making a left turn onto PARK Montrose. STAFF PARKING A raised crosswalk on Manor will prioritize pedestrians by providing a sidewalk-level crossing along Montrose and indicate to motorists entering the neighborhood greenway that the street is designed for slow speeds. Traffic calming features and 20 mph speed limit signs along Manor will indicate that FIELD HOUSE this is a street prioritized for people walking, riding a bike, and living on the street.
CALIFORNIA AVE & MONTROSE AVE Traffic counts indicate few motorists turn left from Manor to Montrose. Nearly 90% of drivers choose to turn left at California where there is a traffic signal. As part of this project, a new left turn lane is proposed and CDOT is evaluating the need and feasibility for adding a new left turn arrow. River Park

MANOR AVE GREENWAY Proposed Traffic Diverter
COMPLETE STREETS PROJECT PROPOSED TRAFFIC DIVERTER Reducing non-local motor vehicle traffic using Manor as a cut-through Manor Ave street has been a long-standing goal of the community. The most effective way to discourage cut-through traffic is by introducing infrastructure improvements that do not allow Manor Ave to be used as a through street between Montrose and Lawrence. The proposed traffic diverter design incorporates pedestrian curb extensions and green bike lanes at the Manor and Wilson intersection to make walking and biking in the neighborhood more comfortable for all ages and abilities. While motorists will not be able to use Manor as a cut-through route, people riding bikes will be able Wilson Ave to continue through the intersection utilizing a low-stress connection to neighborhood parks, public transit, and the North Shore Channel Trail. Under the proposed design, people driving on Manor will be required to turn left or right at Wilson. Wilson Ave will be maintained as a through street crossing the River but turns from Wilson to Manor will be prohibited.
TRIAL PERIOD A 3-month trial is proposed to better gain a true understanding of how the proposed diverter will impact traffic flow within the neighborhood. The proposed trial period is from August 2016 - October 2016 and will include before, during, and after data collection through the Ravenswood Manor neighborhood. Temporary barricades indicating that only people walking and biking may continue through the intersection will be set up to mimic the proposed curb Ave Mozart extensions.
