2012 -View Scholarship Program

The 2012 Student-View Scholarship Program is offering $10,000 worth of scholarships to high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year college, community/junior college or career school. The program includes:

• One $4,000 scholarship • Two $1,000 scholarships • Eight $500 scholarships

The scholarship will be awarded via a random drawing of all completed applications. The scholarship winner will be announced in May, 2012.

The American Legion Legacy Scholarship

Criteria:

• Those eligible to apply shall be the child or dependent child as defined by the United States Armed Services of active duty United States military and National Guard deceased on or after September 11, 2011 • High school senior or high school graduate • Attending an accredited institution of higher within the United States

Amici Italiani Scholarship

Deadline: April 15, 2012 Awards: 4 renewable $1,000 scholarships

Criteria:

• Wayne County, Ohio resident • Accepted as a full-time student in an undergraduate degree program, associate, bachelor, or a one-year certification program • Academic performance • Community service • Preference given to those of Italian descent, but anyone may apply.=

Criteria:

Roy Bates Student Athletic Scholarship

Criteria:

• Pursuing a two or four-year degree • Applicants must have academic achivement, leadership activities and community service • Must obtin a signature from Cargill employee on the application • Children of Cargill employees are NOT eligible

Awards: Four $2,000 scholarships

Criteria: • High school seniors who intend to pursue a career in manufacturing at Cuyahoga Community College, Lakeland Community College or Lorain Community College for the 2012-13 school year.

Mr. & Mrs. Loyd Dalton WHS Athletic Scholarship

Awards: $1,000

Criteria:

• Current Wooster High School senior who has attended WHS for all four years • Applicants must have participated/competed in any single or multiple WHS junior varsity/varsity athletic program all four years • Minimum GPA of 2.75 • Demonstrate financial need, be hardworking, and have enrolled or are enrolling in a post- secondary education institution.

National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences

National Commission for Cooperative Education Scholarship

Deadline: February 15, 2012 Awards: 155 merit co-op scholarships totaling $4 million (renewable, associated with Drexel, Kettering, University of Toledo, Johnson and Wales, University of Cincinnati, Rochester Intitute of Technology and Wentworth Institute of Technology)

Ohio Association of Career Colleges and Proprietary Schools

Awards: 340 scholarships ranging from $2,000 to $16,038

Criteria:

• “C” average or higher and meet college entrance requirements • must be nominated by a state senator (follow instructions on application) • begin classes either the summer or fall term following graduation • may apply for three scholarships

There are excellent scholarship opportunities in accounting, business, criminal justice, computers, dental assisting, electronics, paralegal, medical assisting, etc.

Ohio Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers

OSROA (Ohio School Resource Officer’s Association Scholarship

Deadline: March 30, 2012

Award: $500

Criteria:

• Current Ohio high school senior • Complete essay (no more than 250 words) answering: “How My School Resource Officer Made a Positive Difference in My School.”

William “Bill” Patterson Scholarship

Deadline: March 26, 2012

Award: $1,000

Criteria:

• 3.0 GPA or higher • Plan on attending Ohio Northern University full-time

Printing Industries Education Funds (PIEF) Scholarship

Awards: $1,500-$5,000

Criteria:

• Pursuing a career in the graphic communications industry, print management, printing technology, or graphic arts • High school senior not starting college yet, a current student in college, or working in the graphic communications industry • Be a legal resident of Ohio or Kentucky • 2.5 GPA minimum • seeking 2 or 4 year degree in a graphic arts program.

Criteria:

• Resident of Wayne County • Full time student pursuing a bachelor’s or associate’s degree • Strongly favor those students entering that field. Frances Gerberich Shoolroy Scholarship

Beulah V. Siegel Scholarship Deadline: April 15, 2012

Awards: Tuition and fees beyond the resources made available to the student will be paid by this award. In addition, up to $1,500 per year may be paid for course and lab fees, books, lab materials, etc. Award may not be used for room and board, personal or travel expenses. At the discretion of the scholarship committee, this award is renewable annually upon satisfactory completion of academic requirements, good conduct and until the attainment of an undergraduate degree (up to four years).

Mary Alice Streeter Scholarship

• Undergraduate and/or graduate scholarships available • For individuals pursuing a degree relevant to medical practice management at accredited universities and collges • Must include: letter stating career goals and objectives relevant to medical practice management, a current resume, and three letters of recommendation

Award: $1,000 this first year; $1,500 for the following three years

Criteria:

• Have an eligible physical disability • Continuing education at a technical college or 4-year college

Ella Weiss Scholarship Fund

Deadline: must be postmarked by April 30, 2012

Award: Range from $1,000-$1,500 (renewable, but must re-apply each year)

Criteria:

• Resident of Ohio • Under the age or 23-current senior or past graduates may apply • Must be attending a four-year college in Ohio • Awards heavily weighted on need and potential for academic success in college • Must complete all sections of application or it will be rejected! Wooster Exchange Club

Award: Up to $1,000

Criteria:

• Strong academic record • Record of service to school and community • Financial need • Available to seniors from Northwestern, Smithville, Triway and Wooster High Schools

Wooster High School Alumni & Friends Association

Awards: Four $1,000 scholarships given to students entering a two-year or four-year program

Criteria:

• A Wooster High School graduate of current year and expect to enroll within five months of receiving award. • Must be pursuing a degree at an accredited college or university or no less than an associates degree or similar vocational post-secondary training at an accredited institution.

Wooster Kiwanis Club Achievement Award

Award: Up to $1,500 for each award recipient

Deadline: March 14, 2012

Criteria:

• Graduating senior at Wooster High School or Wayne County Career Center • Resident of Wooster, Ohio (open-enrolled students must reside in Wayne County) or a member of the WCSCC Key Club • Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA • Attend a 2 or 4 year college after graduation • Evaluation based on scholastic achievement and involvement in extra-curricular activities both within school and the community.

Wooster Noon Lions Scholarship

Deadline: April 20, 2012

Award: One $1,000 scholarship and possibly more.

Criteria:

• Wooster High School student • 2.0 GPA or higher • financial need • preference given to visually handicapped students, students with visually handicapped parents and students planning to teach the visually handicapped, however, it is not limited to these students.

Encouragement is recommended for all students to apply for this scholarship. If no one meets the above criteria, they will award the scholarship to any student pursuing further education beyond high school.
