1. Introduction

Now that the Jurismus 2009 Congress is going to take place in the Spanish cities of Olite and Pamplona, the Agenda needs to be approved and that is why ARPA ABOGADOS has been working on booking hotels and restaurants, cultural events (guided tours, diner etc.) introducing the Congress to potential lecturers, etc.

All the above together takes us to a Congress that meets all the criteria suggested by Jurismus which is based on the following key points:

 The main subject for the Congress would be: “Learning about cultural differences within the international businesses as well as protocol rules to apply”.

 Throughout the Congress the main characteristics of the Navarra’s law, taxation, economics, etc. will be pointed out so the attendees will be able to meet the benefits of such system. In connection to this, they will also be told how the companies from Navarra do their international transactions.

 The attendees will also visit the Renewal Energies National Centre

 Several social activities (guided tours, dinners, etc) will take place within the Congress in order for the attendees to meet and make contacts within a causal environment.

2. Place of the Event

The 2009 Jurismus Congress will take place in Olite, a little medieval village within the region of Navarre. Olite is approximately 40 km away from Pamplona, which is the capital of Navarre. Some of the activities will take place in Pamplona as well.

All the working session will take place in the state run hotel of Olite, which is located in the also called “Old Palace”. This Palace was built in the 12th century and it is located nearby the Castle.

3. Transport for the Congress

In order to facilitate the attendee’s arrival to Olite, there are 4 airports available where they can fly to:  Pamplona  Bilbao  Biarritz  Zaragoza

It is advisable to fly to the first two airports and this is because such airports offer more connection flights, and they are also the closest ones. Upon arrival, attendees will be picked up and taken to their hotel. Depending on their flights schedule they will be picked up either by bus, microbus, car… In order to save the attendees money, transport will be arranged for all of them from and to the airports, at the only cost of 60€ per attendee.

4. Accommodation

There is not in Olite just one hotel that can accommodate all the attendees and therefore we have booked all the rooms that the hotels of village have.

The main characteristics for those Hotels are:

4.1.La Joyosa Guarda

- La Joyosa Guarda Hotel is located within the historic downtown district of Olite, in a palace house built in the 18th century, which has been refurbished in order to serve it as a hotel. La Joyosa Guarda is named after one of the towers of the castle where the Queen Blanca of Navarra was confined. - Category: **** - The hotel has 24 rooms available and the prices per night for days 3rd and 4th of July are as follows:

4.2 El Juglar

- This hotel is the newest one as it has opened its doors in 2008 by the people responsible for the hotel “Merindad de Olite”. The hotel it is located right at the beginning of the village approximately 200 meters away from the historic downtown district and it has a garden and swimming pool. - Category: *** - Website: under construction - Prices per night for days 3rd and 4th of July are as follows:

4.3 Casa Zanito

- Casa Zanito is located within the Olite’s historic downtown centre. Currently it is hosted by the third generation of the hotel founders and they take pride of their restaurant as it is quite famous within the county. - Category: ** - Prices per night for days 3rd and 4th of July are as follows:

4.4. Merindad de Olite

- The hotel is located within the historic downtown district. It was rebuilt on the remains of a roman wall and it has been decorated with a medieval twist. - Category: ** - Prices per night for days 3rd and 4th of July are as follows:

4.5 .García Ramírez

- This is the simplest hotel among the others. It is located in the historic downtown district of Olite nearby the city hall and opposite the castle.

4.6 State - run hotel

- The hotel is located within one of the wings of the Old Palace, which dates from the 15th century. Apart from being the place where the Congress will be held, the state run hotel has more than 25 rooms with a medieval twist, where some of the attendees might chose to stay.

5.2. Previous day

Thursday 2nd of July there will be to social acts for those who arrive at Olite on such day.

5.2.1 Welcome Reception.

The reception for the attendees who arrive on Thursday will take place at the state run hotel´s cafeteria, an easy place to find.

5.2.2 Dinner.

Dinner will be casual and will take place at the “Taberna Sport Los Lebreles” located nearby Olite`s Castle Menu will comprise salads, several tapas and paellas. Price is not included in the budget for the Congress; therefore it must be paid by the attendees themselves.

5.3 First day

5.3.1 Conferences

The main subject of the Congress will be the Cultural differences between countries when it comes to negotiating as well as protocol rules to take into consideration for those negotiations.

Therefore 3 conferences on the subject have been arranged: the first one will be about a general one on the subject, the second one will be focus on doing business in India and the third on doing business in China.

This first day 2 conferences will be given, whose main characteristics are as follows:

 “Cultural differences within the international business. Protocol rules”. Lectured by Elena Biarrun. Mrs. Biurrun is a consultant on the industry of foreign trade and international negotiations. She has been in charge of the foreign trade department within several companies and she has lived in London, Paris, India and China. She speaks fluent Spanish, English, French and Italian.

 “Protocol rules to do business in India”. We are currently in touch with the Indian Embassy in Madrid. There they have offered the possibility of Mr. Jayant Khobragade, economic counselor of the Indian Embassy in Spain to give the lecture. We are still waiting for him to confirm assistance.

5.3.2 Visit a Company

On Friday the attendees will have the opportunity to visit the Spanish Renewable Energies National Centre (CENER), whose premises are located nearby Pamplona.

Although CENER is not a private entity it has been chosen for the visit for the following reasons:

- Firstly because the renewable energies are one of the main sectors for the industry of Navarre (is not by chance that the National Center is located in Navarre), and therefore it is something that it is part of the region.

- Secondly because CENER has used for their international businesses, the services of Eurojuris’ lawyers and therefore, it is quite an interesting opportunity for them to meet Jurismusers who might collaborate with them in the future.

5.3.3 Official Reception.

Official Reception at Pamplona’s City Hall has been requested from the local authority; however we are still uncertain whether this might be possible; authorities are usually fully booked for these dates due to the Festival.

In the event that the authorities confirmed availability, we might be forced to modify the Congress’ schedule due to their agenda.

If the reception was not possible then we would try and request another reception from another institution should the latter not be feasible we would use that time to visit Olite’s Castle.

5.3.4. Guided Tour through Pamplona

Since one of the most famous events in Pamplona is the running of the bulls, in the afternoon of the 3rd of July there will be a guided tour through the route that the bulls take for such event. For this visit we are pleased to count with Javier Solano as a guide; he has been the host in TVE (the Spanish public television channel) for the running of the bulls since 1988. Javier has written several books and articles about San Fermín and he has given conferences related to the running of the bulls.

5.3.5. Dinner in Pamplona.

After the guided tour we will have the pleasure to enjoy pinchos in different local pub of Pamplona ( pinchos is how tapas are called in Navarra). After dinner the attendees will be taken to a pub in the historic downtown district. There will be buses ready to go back to Olite at 01:00 am and 03:30 am.

5.4 Second day

Conferences

There will be 3 conferences on the second day of Congress:

 The first conference of the day will be the last one on protocol and it will be focused in China. The lecturer will be Mr. Joaquín Romero, Foreign Trade assistant. Mr. Romero has worked in China between 1999 and 2001 for a consultancy company specialized in the Asian market. He has lived in Shanghai, Shenzhen and Nanjing.

Later on he has been working as a Foreign Trade director in several companies and he has been in charge of different International markets including the Chinese one. He is currently working as an external assistant of the Chamber of Commerce of the Spanish County “La Rioja”, designing a plan for Spanish companies to expand abroad.

 The second conference will have the purpose of making the attendees aware of the peculiarities of Navarre. As a consequence of having been a Kingdom back in the day, Navarre has its own tax regulations. This is quite beneficial for national companies, so we believe such lecture to be very useful for the attendees implementing their knowledge in Spanish investments so they will be able to assist their clients when setting up a company in Spain.

The lecturer for this conference will be one of the advisers of the SOCIEDAD DE DESARROLLO DE NAVARRA S.A. (SODENA). SODENA is a public entity of Navarre’s government specialized in the support for projects of the companies.

 The third conference will be about Navarre’s investments abroad and especially how companies from Navarre set up their business abroad. This can be an opportunity for the attendees to try and find ways of collaboration for such companies to set up abroad. This conference will be given by the Chamber of Commerce of Navarre, which is the institution assisting for the internationalization of the local enterprises.

5.4.2. Guided Tour to Olite’s Castle

On Saturday afternoon there will be a visit to Olite’s Castle (also called New Palace). This Castle was built in the 15th century and it has been the residency of the Kings of Navarre and it is the most important monument in Olite.

This visit will be optional; therefore, the attendees can decide whether to join the tour or to have free time.

5.4.3 Guided Tour to a Winecellar

In the afternoon attendees will be taken by bus to a wine cellar outside Olite. The wine cellar is called “Pagos de Araiz” and it is the newest wine cellar around. It mixes the wine environment with art and architecture.

The tour will include visiting the vineyards, the house and the wine cellar, as well as a wine tasting.

5.4.4. Capea, dinner and Far West party

After visiting the wine cellar the attendees will be taken to the restaurant “Finca el Montecillo” which is approximately 30 km away from Olite. The premises were built over an old rural palace of 17th Century, and they offer their clients participating in a kind of bullfight with young bulls (6 months max.).

-The program and menu will be as follows:

-Arrival and facilities tour. -Welcome country snack (sausage sandwich, bacon, cheeses typical of Navarre, wines…). -Country party. Running of the calfs for the most courageous. -Ball party. -The party goes on (dancing in the pub…). -Party ends and Return.

-MENU

-Montecillo miniature lettuce salads. -Iberian toast. -Grilled King prawn. -Stuffing piquillo peppers. -Lemon sorbet with cava (Spanish sparkling wine). -Roast milk-fed lamb. -Pastries and ice cream with hot chocolate. -Coffees and shots.

The subject for the party will be “The Far West”.

On one hand this subject allows the attendees touring the wine cellar in jeans without being completely dressed up, and on the other hand the “country /cowboy” twist matches perfectly the bull’s orientated ambience of the restaurant.

Exclusivity for the bullring and disco requires paying for 75 people. Open bar for 2 hours will be 10€ per person.

6. Budget

To calculate the estimates for the Congress we have taking into consideration the following:

 In order to calculate the budget, since the number of attendees is uncertain, we have based the estimates in two situations, the first one counting on 50 attendees and the second one counting on 60.

 By taking the maximum sum of 500€ per person as a starting point and taking into account that there are different kinds of accommodation, average cost for accommodation would be 100€ per day. In this case each attendee would have to pay a total of 300 € (accommodation not included)

 Notwithstanding the above, it has been pointed out that trips from/to airports should be organized by the hosts in order to facilitate arrivals and departures to and from the Congress. Since these expenses are usually on the attendees, in order to make it cheaper for them we have calculated that we can not only arrange the transport schedule but also the price. This means that attendees would pay the organization 60 € in advance per person (this price it is only for attendees of the Congress, partners will be included in such price) and their transport would be provided and paid for, saving them therefore time and money.

 We do not have still any sponsors confirmed. However we are in touch with 2 possible sponsors and this could increase the income.

7. Schedule for the following days

All of those attendees who wish so will have the opportunity to stay for a few more days in Olite or in Pamplona and enjoy the Festival.

Therefore we have elaborated a program through which our intention is that those attendees staying for the Festival have the chance to get involved in it guided by locals, letting them at the same time freedom to choose what to do. Most of the activities proposed are optional.

The program will read as follows:

 10:00 Informal Brunch in a Pamplona’s pub.

 12:00 Chupinazo.

Pamplona’s pub tour. Individual payment of the drinks.

 17:00 Informal afternoon snack.

 18:00 Bullfight (optional). Depending tickets availability. Please note It may hurt the feelings of some people.

 21:00 Dinner: Pamplona’s Congress Center Restaurant (optional) and fireworks (optional).

 23:45 First bus return to Olite.

Tuesday 7th July

Dress code: White trouser and t-shirt and training shoes.

 08:00 Attendance to the running of the bulls at the Bullring.

 09:30 Informal breakfast in a pub of Pamplona.

 10:30 San Fermín Procession (optional).

 13:30 Informal Meal at Restaurant “Nuevo Casino” Pamplona.

 16:30 Return to Olite.

7.1. 5th July Schedule:

Free day to relax.

Nevertheless, an excursion will be organized probably to San Sebastian or to a significant place of Navarre (Bardenas Reales, Valle de Roncal, ).

Moreover, at 21:00 there will be held an informal dinner at “La Joyosa Guarda” hotel, and thereafter the attendees will be informed about the different aspects of San Fermin’s Festival: events meaning, behavior rules, organization, etc. The amount for this dinner will be 30 euros per person (drinks not included), the menu will contain the following:

- Cured Jabugo´s ham - Piquillo’s pepers from Lodosa - Lettuce from Tudela - Scrambled mushrooms - Cod - Roncal´s cheese - Desert (Curd sorbet)

7.2. 6th July Schedule

At 12:00 h. the Party begins with the launching of the “Chupinazo” (name given to the firework that announces the beginning of the Party).

At 9:30 h. the attendees will be taken to Pamplona, where an informal Brunch will be offered in a pub of Pamplona. This Brunch will consist of fried eggs, bacon or sausages, chips and peppers, and its price will be approximately15/20 € per person.

Afterwards, we will go to the Chupinazo. Those who so wish could watch it in the City Hall Square, it can be quite overwhelming because it is crowded. The others can see the beginning of the party from other of the squares of Pamplona on large screens.

Upon the Chupinazo, the attendees will be taken to local pubs to drink and dance as much as they want (it might be the afternoon, the evening, the night or even the following morning).

In order to make it easier to last longer we have thought that we might have some sandwiches and soft drinks around five o’clock.

At around 18:00 all of those who so wish ( as long as enough tickets are available) can attend to a bull fight where the bullfighters ride horses .

Also for those who so wish we will arrange dinner at a restaurant at 21:00 whose price is still pending of confirmation.

At 23:00 fireworks we can be seen from the restaurant or from the street.

Finally for the coming back to Olite two buses have been arranged, one at 23:45 pm and the other one at 3:30 am.

7.3 7th July Schedule

On 7th of July attendees must be taken to Pamplona at 6:45 and this is because the running of the bulls takes place at 8:00am.

The attendees will be taken to the bull ring, where they will see the running on big screens as well as the bulls getting into the bull ring. There will be also young bulls for the people at the bull ring to play with.

Notwithstanding the aforementioned, if any of the attendees requested it quite in advance they might be able to see the running of the bulls from a balcony; however this involves a higher cost.

Afterwards, those who wish will be able to attend to one of the most traditional events. This is the procession, where the Saint is taken through the streets of Pamplona. Giants and bigheaded is an attraction that can be seen at the processio n as well.

Finally at 13:30 a casual lunch will take place at the new casino, however this is still pending of confirmation.

Afterwards those who so wish can get the bus back to Olite.
