Within the past ten years magnetic levitation (maglev) technology has gained substantial interest and significant development internationally. Most notably is the application of maglev technology to trains. In Asia and Europe maglev trains ride on air and reach speeds up to 250 mph. This technology also has great potential in other applications, such as elevator systems – not only for greater energy efficiency, but also in offering the fig 1.
