Professional Experience:

2013-2016 Principal, Escalator Elevator Consulting Group. Complete escalator / elevator consulting services, including expert witness testimony, maintenance audits, maintenance contract specifications, modernization contract specifications, operational / condition assessments, vertical transportation evaluation for new construction, evaluation of engineering documentation, and evaluation of vertical transportation equipment pursuant to injuries sustained on escalator / elevator equipment, both State and Federal jurisdictions.

1996-2013 District Superintendent, and Mechanical Maintenance Division, San Francisco District (BART). Total operational maintenance, modernization and repair responsibility for 179 , 140 traction and hydraulic passenger , and 4 handicap lifts in a mass transit, urban rail environment, employing 45 technicians. Operational scope required safe, sustained elevator and escalator reliability of 97% while conveying over 109 million patrons per year through 44 passenger stations and 14 parking structures covering the Bay Area. Chief Maintenance Officer in charge of design review / installation and deployment of 121 total escalator modernizations and 100 elevator modernizations. BART District Expert Witness, appearing in all escalator and elevator litigations; consulting with District retained counsel on accident investigation, case preparation, trial strategies, and expert testimony at trial.

1988 -1995 General Manager, Armor Elevator Company, San Francisco, CA. Total operational responsibility for Western Region, grossing over 20 million dollars per year, with 75 employees, performing contracted elevator and escalator maintenance, modernization, and repair on a base of over 1,000 vertical transportation units. Compete operational responsibility including Field Operations, Administration, Sales, and Profit / Loss.

1983 - 1987 Vice President, Field Operations, Atlas Elevator Company, San Francisco. Responsible for administration, elevator and escalator maintenance, modernization, and repair operations, Including Union labor relations, vendors, and State Regulatory agencies. Established computerized costing, billing, A/P and A/R. Managed marketing operation doubling revenue growth in two years.

1980 - 1983 Sales Manager, Armor Elevator Company, San Francisco, CA. Directed sales, negotiation, design, contracting, and construction of high rise passenger and freight elevators throughout Northern California, with emphasis on microprocessor controls and solid state motor drives. Negotiated long term maintenance service and repair contracts and elevator / escalator modernization projects. Worked closely with architects, engineers, owners and managers. Top Sales Professional 1981 and 1982 in competition with 50 Sales and Region Managers in firm grossing over 100 million dollars annually.

1978 - 1979 Construction Field Superintendent / Construction Coordinator - Dover Elevator Company, Oakland, CA. Managed labor and materials logistics in field operation for construction of elevators and escalators. Scheduled labor, generated field drawings, reviewed and approved structural, architectural, and electrical schematics involving elevator / escalator construction. Generated and processed Job site layouts.

1973 - 1977 Account Executive, Atlas Elevator Company, San Francisco, CA. Handled all phases of design, sales, contract negotiation of passenger and freight elevators and escalators, elevator and escalator maintenance. 1975-76 Assignment to Westinghouse Elevator for special projects in , TX.

1970 - 1973 Apprenticeship field training - Otis Elevator Company, San Francisco, CA. Field position working on the installation of elevators and escalators, San Francisco, CA. Installed elevator and escalator equipment in the Bank of America World Headquarters Building.

Presentation to American Public Transportation Association -

As Creator / Director of the Initiative, published major paper on the development of the BART in-house Elevator / Escalator Mechanic Training Program to select, educate, , and develop elevator / escalator mechanics employed directly by the District. A two-year program incorporating academic course work, advanced electrical and mechanical training, and specific instruction and supervised field work to train selected candidates to become fully capable elevator / escalator mechanics. Developed syllabi, course materials, teaching aids, hired instructors, set performance standards, and designed developmental stages to determine student progress.
