SUBJECT: Shoulder Sleeve Insignia for the 198th Regional Support Group

1. A shoulder sleeve insignia (SSI) is authorized effective 1 September 2016 for the 198th Regional Support Group. The description and symbolism of the design are as follows:

DESCRIPTION

On a shield shaped embroidered item 3 3/8 inches (8.57cm) in height, edged with a 1/8 inch (.32cm) yellow border, blazoned as follows: Azure, issuant from stylized mountains Proper; a chief Gyronny of seven Or and Gules, overall a mullet Tenné fimbriated Or.

SYMBOLISM

The colors and division of the shield represent the State flag of Arizona and

Camelback Mountain.

2. Enclosed for your use and retention are:

a. A copy of the manufacturing drawing of the SSI (TIOH Drawing A-1-1124) (Encl 1).

b. The SSI in full color, ACU subdued and black and white line drawing (Encl 2).

3. The SSI are quality-controlled heraldic items and may not be procured until the development samples are approved by this Institute. You will be notified when development has been completed, normally within 90 days.

4. This authorization is in accordance with AR 670-1 and Department of the Army and the Air Force Joint Force Headquarters, Permanent Order 239-001, dated 26 August 2016. A copy of this letter will become part of your permanent organizational history files.
