Met alleen een lege cellokist begint ze niet veel. Maar een cello kost heel veel geld – zoveel dat veel musici zich de aanschaf niet kunnen veroorloven. Het Nationaal Muziekinstrumenten Fonds (NMF) helpt hen. Mascha bijvoorbeeld heeft eerder een cello van Jacobus Stainer (Absam 1600 - 1650) in bruikleen gekregen en speelt tegenwoordig op een cello van het NMF (Jaap Bolink, Hilversum 1984). Zodat u daarvan kunt genieten. The musical success of the first Amsterdam Cello Biennale and, equally, the festive feeling of solidarity uniting visitors and performers alike have been a continual source of inspiration in conceiving and realising the new Festival programme. Besides countless new faces, new music and new formulas, we have consciously retained those elements that proved to be so enriching last time that they are worthy of repetition. For, just as in music itself, the repetition of certain themes can have an even stronger impact through subtle variations or fine embellishments. The second time around, one is struck by details that previously escaped notice. And behold, suddenly an entirely new melody or unexpected rhythmic element is created. So we eagerly anticipate undergoing the familiar morning ritual of a Bach suite on six occasions and subsequently immersing ourselves in masterclasses, Anner Bijlsma’s talks and a wealth of afternoon and evening concerts featuring cellists and ensembles of renown. Core repertoire happily rubs shoulders with the newest of new music, hot off the press with the ink scarcely dried. Five world premières and many compositions that are seldom if ever performed in the Netherlands are tempting fare for the inquiring listener. An inquiring mind is a prerequisite for the new series of short concerts around five o’clock (Take Five) in which the listener’s imagination will be fired by innovative techniques and newly conceived sounds, improvisations, and even a cello cabaret. We will assess our ‘heroes of tomorrow’ during the National Cello Competition and eagerly await the moment that more than one hundred, in some cases extremely young children will form the Mega Children’s Cello Orchestra. And for the children who do not play (yet) but would like to listen, there are concerts targeting child and infant audiences in the Bimhuis arena. Cello makers, publishers, photo and film exhibitions and an extensive ‘Fringe programme’ (extra programmes presented free of charge in the BAM Hall) in all nooks and crannies of the unsurpassable Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ will make the Amsterdam Cello Biennale the ideal meeting place for devotees, students and masters of the cello. Naast talloze nieuwe gezichten, nieuwe muziek en nieuwe formules hebben wij bewust datgene behouden wat twee jaar geleden zo waardevol bleek te zijn. Want net als in de muziek zelf kan de herhaling van bepaalde thema’s een versterkende werking hebben door subtiele afwijkingen of fraaie versieringen. Een tweede keer merk je details op die eerder aan je aandacht wisten te ontsnappen. En kijk, daar ontstaat ineens een geheel nieuwe melodie of onverwacht ritmisch element. Zo verheugen wij ons erop om zes keer het reeds bekende ochtendritueel van een Bach-suite te ondergaan en ons vervolgens onder te dompelen in masterclasses, Anner Bijlsma’s gesprekken en een enorme hoeveelheid middag- en avondconcerten door cellisten en ensembles van naam en faam. IJzeren repertoire en muziek, waarvan de inkt nog maar net is opgedroogd, gaan vrolijk hand in hand. Zes wereldpremières en vele zelden of nooit in Nederland uitgevoerde composities zijn een verleidelijk onderdeel voor de nieuwsgierige luisteraar. Nieuwsgierigheid is overigens een noodzakelijke eigenschap voor de nieuwe serie korte concerten rond vijf uur (Take Five) waar nieuwe technieken en klankbeelden, improvisaties, maar ook een cello-cabaret tot de verbeelding spreken. Wij beoordelen onze ‘helden van morgen’ tijdens het Nationaal Celloconcours en kijken verlangend uit naar het moment waarop meer dan honderd jonge, deels zéér jonge, kinderen het Mega Kinder Cello Orkest (Mega KCO) zullen vormen. En voor de kinderen die (nog) niet zelf spelen maar willen luisteren - ook dat bestaat - zijn er kleuter- en kinderconcerten in de arena van het Bimhuis. Cellobouwers, uitgevers, foto- en filmvoorstellingen en een uitgebreid ‘Fringe- programma’ - extra toegevoegde, gratis toegankelijke programmering in de BAM- Zaal - in alle hoeken en gaten van het onvolprezen Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ maken de Amsterdamse Cello Biënnale tot de ideale ontmoetingsplaats voor liefhebbers, studenten en cellomeesters. Elle a été reconnue d'utilité publique dès 1918. Elle est donc sinon la plus ancienne, du moins l'une des plus anciennes associations culturelles de France. Son rôle est essentiellement un rôle de solidarité entre les générations d'artistes formés par ces établissements. Elle organise tous les ans pas moins d'une centaine de concerts dont ce concert de printemps au Conservatoire. Création : le 21 juin 1868, au Hoftheater de Munich, sous la direction de Hans von Bülow. Effectif : piccolo, 2 flûtes, 2 hautbois, 2 clarinettes, 2 bassons – 4 cors, 5 trompettes, 2 trombones, tuba basse – timbales, triangle, tambour, cymbales – harpe, luth – cordes. Durée : environ 9 minutes. La découverte, en 1845, du personnage historique de Hans Sachs, « dernière incarnation de l’esprit populaire artistiquement créateur en art » (Une communication à mes amis, 1851), pousse Wagner à esquisser les grandes lignes des Maîtres chanteurs de Nuremberg ; s’il faut attendre les années 1860 (et la composition de Lohengrin, de Tristan et d’une grande partie de L’Anneau du Nibelung) pour que le compositeur s’y attelle véritablement, la thématique principale, elle, est déjà présente : réflexion sur l’art, l’opéra prône la réconciliation entre tradition (représentée par la confrérie des maîtres chanteurs) et nouveauté (incarnée par le jeune Walther). Comme une illustration de cette problématique, la musique se réapproprie des tournures « anciennes » (forme bar, fugue, contrepoint) et délaisse le chromatisme tristanien pour un vigoureux diatonisme : Wagner « forge […] pour chaque œuvre une langue nouvelle », comme le fait remarquer Nietzsche dans sa Considération inactuelle n° 4.
