4 BIOGRAPHIES: KID CARPET & THE CREATIVE TEAM

CONCEPT, CO-DIRECTOR AND COMPOSER: KID CARPET Ed Patrick (Kid Carpet) makes electronic punk folk pop music out of whatever’s lying around. He released his first EP in 2003 as a home-made cd, remix and live show requests soon followed. A popular support act for touring bands, Kid Carpet has opened for Arcade Fire, Art Brut, Badly Drawn Boy, Electric Six, The Go! Team and Willy Mason to name a few. A regular festival favourite, Kid Carpet has performed in Japan, Hong Kong, Iceland and throughout Europe. His first full album Ideas & Oh Dears was released in 2005, followed by Casio Royale in 2008, his tiny concept album Advert Break was released in 2010 and his current album Songs From Repo Chick is the soundtrack for Alex Cox's latest feature.

After releasing three albums and performing both nationally and internationally Kid Carpet has presented a television programme for the BBC and started making theatre. His first work for family audiences, Kid Carpet & The Noisy Animals, has toured comprehensively since spring 2012, playing in over 50 venues.

Kid Carpet also composes music for theatre, television and films. Clients include BBC2, Alex Cox, 8 Minutes Idle (feature film) and Theatre.

CO-DIRECTOR: EMMA WILLIAMS Emma trained at Dartington College of Arts and at the University of . She has directed shows for South West companies; Pickled Image, The Desperate Men and Stickleback Plasticus and productions produced by the Bristol Old Vic (Wolf Tales) and the Tobacco Factory Theatre (The Lost Present). Most recent credit includes Shop of Little Horrors by Pickled Image.

She has directed large outdoor community performances, most recently, Time on Light for Activate (opening a new bridge in Poole) and The Art of Hiding for Farnham Maltings. For the last five years she has been Performance Director for The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama’s Design and Puppetry course. The most recent being the production The Boy who went Fishing for Compliments by Daffyd James .

She has also been working with designer/puppeteer Max Humphries (360 theatre, Green Ginger, Little Bulb) devising a one-man show exploring the mimicking of human consciousness by an artificial intelligence.

SET & COSTUME DESIGNER: LIESEL CORP Liesel Corp is a freelance stage and costume designer. Though predominantly designing for theatre, Liesel designs for a variety of performance genres. Recently as Art Department Supervisor for Endemol designing studio sets for the themed shows of Deal or No Deal also in 2012 as HOD Costume for SKYPE's short Polly (premier 2013).

5 She studied Art foundation at Somerset College of Arts and Technology and continued there to study for a BA Hons in Fashion Textiles.

Liesel took up residence in Bristol as a maker for JAG Props and made costumes for west end and world tour productions such as Priscilla Queen of the Desert and Batman the Arena Tour. Her costumes are still on stage today in and New York. Liesel went on to become the in house stage and costume designer for Bristol Old Vic Young Company working alongside director Miranda Cromwell. In 2010 their production of Our Country's Good was selected to attend the National Student Drama Festival where Liesel won Best Costume Designer. In 2011 their production of Children of Killers was selected to perform at the Cottesloe, National Theatre as part of the National Connections Festival. They have now formed their own theatre company with musical director Elizabeth Wescott.

Under the guidance of and Emma Stenning, artistic directors at Bristol Old Vic, Liesel has assisted and worked with some of the UK's best designers such as Laura Hopkins, Tom Pye, Lizzie Clachan and Robert Innes Hopkins. Also working with directors such as John Retallack, and Amy Leach.

DRAMATURG: MIKE AKERS Mike studied drama at the University of East Anglia. His first play, Holding Hands With Angels, was produced in Bristol by Theatre West in 1997 at the Alma Tavern and went on to win a national one act play competition. Since then he has written twenty two plays, including productions at Salisbury Playhouse, Bristol Old Vic, Cheltenham Everyman, Tobacco Factory Theatre, the Polka Theatre and on Radio 4. His work for young people includes City of One for Myrtle Theatre Company and Jabberwocky for Sixth Sense. For Travelling Light Theatre he has been dramaturg on numerous productions directed by Sally Cookson, including Shadowplay, How Cold My Toes and Boing! His most recent production include the highly successful adaptation of for Bristol Old Vic, which ran throughout July and August in a purpose built outdoor theatre in King Street and Hot Air for Myrtle Theatre Company. He is currently working on an adaptation of Jane Eyre

LIGHTING DESIGNER: CHRIS COLLIER Chris studied theatre amongst the cow patted fields of Dartington college of arts, graduating in 2007. He now regards himself as a theatre maker, multimedia artist and photographer, basing himself in Bristol. In his work he likes to explore the theatrical of the mundane. Chris is an associate artist of the Bristol Old Vic young company, Twisted Theatre, The Original Spinners and co founder of The Wardrobe Theatre.

ANIMATOR: WILL BISHOP STEPHENS

Will studied foundation art at Falmouth School of Art, followed by a BA in Sculpture at Winchester School of Art and an MA in Animation at RCA. He makes films working as a writer, director and animator. He is a published author and illustrator. Past clients include the NHS, BBC, Sunday Best Record and Band Camp TV. Additionally he lectures at a wide range of universities including RCA, UEL, Westminster University and West Dean College.

Kid Carpet takes to the road to present a brand new rock and roll, theatre extravaganza for kids.

Over the last 10 years Kid Carpet has garnered himself an international reputation as a pioneer of catchy, lo-fi electro-pop music. Having released 4 albums, toured with acts like Arcade Fire, Badly Drawn Boy, Willy Mason and worked with cult film director Alex Cox. He started off his theatre career by making up songs for his two year old and since then has become one of the most popular children’s theatre creators around. His following means tickets don’t stick around for long and the reception for shows is overwhelmingly positive.
