Bank One Names Boshart as Head of Capital Markets

CHICAGO, Sept. 5, 2000 -- ONE announced that James S. Boshart has joined the company today as executive vice president and head of capital markets, reporting to James Dimon, chairman and chief executive officer.

Boshart, 55, has 30 years of experience, most recently as co-chief executive officer of Schroder Salomon Smith Barney in Europe.

"Jim has earned a great reputation in the industry for his strong performance at some of the world's best firms," Dimon said. "He is an excellent manager with exceptional character and integrity who will work with a wide range of our customers. He will build upon our strengths and competitive advantages to further develop the capital markets business that is right for Bank One."

Boshart joined Smith Barney in 1990 as manager of the Department and became head of Capital Markets in 1995 and vice chairman and co-head of Investment Banking in 1997.

From 1988 to 1990, Boshart served as president and chief operating officer of the Stamford Company, a primarily engaged in /merchant banking and asset management activities. He spent 15 years at Lehman Brothers in various sales, management and administrative roles, including overseeing capital markets activities and serving national sales manager for all securities. He was a managing director from 1979 to 1984. He was the firm's chief administrative officer and a member of the operating committee and the board of directors at the time of Lehman merged with Shearson in 1984.

Boshart earned a bachelor's degree in 1967 from Wake Forest University, and spent the next three years in the U.S. Army. He and his wife have four children.
