Santiago Canyon College Current: G. Required Proficiencies Courses taken to meet these proficiencies must be completed with a grade of “C” or better.

G2. Reading 1. Completion of Reading 102, Reading 150, or Reading 151 with a grade of “C” or better OR 2. Completion of English 102/102H, English 103/103H, Philosophy 110, or Philosophy 111 with a grade of “C” or better.

Santiago Canyon College Proposed: G. Required Proficiencies Courses taken to meet these proficiencies must be completed with a grade of “C” or better. If the equivalent course is completed at another institution, the grade must be confirmed by submission of official transcripts from a regionally accredited college or university.

G2. Reading

1. One of the following courses with a grade of “C” or better: Reading 101, 102, 150 or 151; English 102/102H or 103/103H; Philosophy 110 or 111. OR 2. 9 units with a letter grade of “C” or better in three of these General Education areas: A, B1, B2, or D; OR 3. Possession of an Associate Degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university confirmed by submission of an official transcript; OR 4. A qualifying reading placement through SCC multiple assessment measures prior to Fall 2019.

Note: For students planning to transfer, complete one of the following: English 102/102H, English 103/103H, Philosophy 110, Philosophy 111, Reading 150, or Reading 151. These six courses satisfy ALL of the following: reading proficiency for local AA, Plan B CSU GE Area A3, and Plan C IGETC Area 1B.

Cerritos College 2020-2021 Catalog Reading Proficiency Reading - This requirement can be met by one of the following options: a. Completion of READ 54 or READ 97 or READ 102 or equivalent with a grade of “C” or higher or “Pass” b. For other options, see your counselor

Cypress College 2020-2021 Catalog Reading Proficiency Graduation Reading Requirement Proficiency in reading may be satisfied by one of the following: 1. Completion of a degree (AA/AS or higher) from a US regionally accredited college or university. 2. A placement test score indicating proficiency has been met or passing the Cypress College reading proficiency test (CTEP 60 or Nelson-Deny 225) prior to Fall 2019. 3. A passing grade of C or better in ENGL 096 C or ENGL 102 C or a comparable course from a regionally accredited college or university. 4. A passing grade of C or better in any course in the Cypress College IGETC (1B); or Cypress College CSU GE (A3) Critical Thinking category or a comparable course from a regionally accredited college or university. 5. A passing grade of C or better in the Cypress College AA/AS degree General Education pattern Area A2 (Analytical Thinking) or a comparable course from a regionally accredited college or university.

Fullerton College 2020-2021 Catalog Reading Requirement 1. Completion of a degree (AA/AS or higher) from a regionally-accredited college or university confirmed by submission of an official transcript from a regionally-accredited college or university. 2. A placement test score indicating a placement into READ 142 F if taken prior to 11/16/2018, or a reading proficiency test approved by the Fullerton College Reading Department. 3. A passing grade of C or better or Pass in READ 096 F, READ 101 F, READ 142 F, ESL 185 F or ESL 189 F; or an equivalent course with a grade of C- or better confirmed by submission of official transcripts from a regionally-accredited college or university. 4. A passing grade of C or better in any course in the IGETC (1B); or CSU GE (A3) Critical Thinking category; or an equivalent course with a grade of C- or better confirmed by submission of official transcripts from a regionally-accredited college or university. 5. A passing grade of C or better in the Fullerton College AA/AS degree General Education pattern Area A2 (Analytical Thinking), or an equivalent course with a grade of C- or better confirmed by submission of official transcripts from a regionally-accredited college or university.

Long Beach City College 2020-2021 Catalog Reading Proficiency READING Proficiency may be achieved by satisfying one of the following: a. A qualifying placement through LBCC multiple assessment measures. b. A passing grade of a C, P, or higher in READ 82 or 182AX at LBCC (Courses taken at other col- leges may be individually reviewed for equivalency by Reading Department Chair.) c. A passing grade of a C or higher in any course in the CSU GE (A3) Critical Thinking category OR IGETC (1B) Critical Thinking and Composition category. d. An A.A., A.S., or a Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university. e. Complete the Expository Reading and Writing Course in grade 12 with a C or higher for both semesters.

Santa Ana College 2020-2021 Catalog Reading Proficiency A. Reading The Reading Proficiency will be considered met by earning a C or better in English 101 or English 101H.
