II. Announcements a. Class Capacity C. Evett presented information on Class Capacity. The Curriculum Office updates the class capacity field in Colleague when a request is made. Collegial consultation should take place before the class capacity field is changed. The interim process for the Curriculum Office will be to request that the Dean and CIC Chair be copied when an update to the class capacity field in Colleague is requested. Faculty are asked to contact CIC if consultation has not occurred. The faculty’s role in class capacity decision making and consultation should be honored. Other colleges across the state are having similar conversations regarding class capacity. C. Evett asked CIC members to consider how class caps should be decided. Should class capacity be decided at the CIC, by the Faculty Association of Rancho Santiago District (FARSCCD) or by the college in consultation with deans and faculty? Where should class capacity information be stored? It is currently not included on the Course Outline of Record. It was clarified that class capacity is an optimum number and faculty have the option to go above cap.

b. Other C. Evett welcomed and introduced Max Newman, student representative, to the CIC. Brian Sos, CIC Chair for , was also introduced and welcomed. C. Evett announced that Friday, September 25, 2020 is the deadline to submit the Distance Education Addendum (DEA) Template with a list of courses for those areas who wish to use the modified DEA process. C. Evett and N. Shekarabi clarified that the Honors Committee has requested an Emergency Only delineation for honors courses. In alignment with the honors philosophy, honors courses may be offered online only during emergency situations. C. Evett announced that the Enrollment Management Committee (EMC), per the direction of the Academic Senate, is looking into guiding principles for cancellation of classes. A. Voelcker spoke on assessment. Members can view notifications related to items that need to be completed and turned in. In addition to current videos, an additional video will be created and made available to assist users with assessment.
