Women’s Soccer

• SCC Defeats Mt. SAC 3-1: Sophomore Sarah Califf and freshman Kelsey Morgan each finished with a goal and an assist to lead the SCC women’s soccer team to a 3-1 win over Mt. San Antonio College (Mt. SAC) in the second round of the 2007 Southern Regional Playoffs on Tuesday, Nov. 17 at the SCC Soccer Field. Freshman Jalissa Martinez chipped in with a goal for the Hawks, while sophomore goalkeeper Katie Graul made five saves. • Hawks Face Cuyamaca in Third Round of Playoffs: The SCC women’s soccer team will take on in the third round of the regional playoffs tomorrow (Dec. 1) at the SCC Soccer Field at 2 p.m. The Hawks (24-0) are the top-seeded team in the region, while the Coyotes (17-5-1) are the No. 5-seed. • Playoff Update: The winner of Saturday’s game will advance to the California Soccer Championships (final four) to be held on Dec. 7-9 at Fresno Pacific University in Fresno, CA.

Men’s Soccer

• SCC Drops Second Round Game to Top-Seeded Mt. SAC: The SCC men’s soccer team lost to top- seeded Mt. SAC 6-5 in overtime in the second round of the regional playoffs on Nov. 17 at the Mt. SAC Soccer Field. The Hawks (No. 8-seed) finish their season with a 14-5-4 overall record. Sophomores Garr Persson and Andrew Casco and freshmen Tyler Petry , Carlos Chavez and Eric Roman each scored a goal in the loss for SCC. • Bright Future: The men’s soccer team showed significant improvement this season under first-year Head Coach Wade Fraser . The Hawks finished third in the with an 8-3-3 record and qualified for the playoffs for the first time in the history of the program.

Men’s & Women’s Cross Country

• Three Runners Represent SCC at State Championships: Sophomore Alicia Ayala and freshmen Heather Krystek and David Ferreira represented the SCC men's and women's cross country teams on Nov. 17 at the California State Cross Country Championships at Woodward Park in Fresno, CA. Ayala finished in 37th place out of 189 competitors with a time of 19:47. Ayala's time was a 67-second improvement from her freshman season on the state championship course. Krystek placed 98th overall with a time of 21:08 for the 5,000 meter course. On the men's side, Ferreira completed the four mile course in a time of 22:28 to finish in 110th place out of 199 runners.
