Whitehaven® 2019 Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc

Established in 1994, Whitehaven is a small, family-owned winery located in Blenheim, New Zealand. Whitehaven has earned a reputation for crafting distinctive and critically-acclaimed Sauvignon Blanc from the renowned Marlborough region. The vines here bask in warm sunlight and cooling breezes from the coast, translating to well-balanced wines with brilliant complexity.

About the Wine:

A blend of Marlborough regions, our 2019 Whitehaven Sauvignon Blanc delivers layered, nuanced character on a refreshingly crisp palate. The wine opens with classic aromas of bright lemon, ripe tropical fruit and fresh-snipped greens. This smooth, medium-bodied Sauvignon Blanc carries through the aromatic notes to the palate, adding hints of grapefruit, white peach, pineapple and juicy pair. Superbly structured and balanced with a clean, zesty finish.

Viticulture Notes:

Vintage 2019 in Marlborough was excellent, with crisp fruit delivering bright, layered Sauvignon Blanc. A showery, cool spring led to a typically sun-drenched Marlborough summer. The growing season was warm and dry, yielding a small but stunning crop. Harvest was early, fruit coming into the cellar with ideal balance, concentrated flavors and beautiful, layered texture.

Winemaking Notes:

The fruit was machine harvested in cool evening conditions and pressed immediately with minimal skin contact. After settling, the clear juice was fermented at very low temperatures with selected yeast strains to preserve the inherent varietal flavors. The wine was fermented entirely in stainless steel.
