PUBLIC NOTICE

BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL PROPOSES TO INTRODUCE PARKING RESTRICTIONS WITHIN VARIOUS ROADS OF NEWNHAM AND CASTLE WARD,

Reason for Proposal: The proposals are aimed to improve road safety at road junctions by keeping them clear of parked vehicles. The proposals also include extending some of the parking bays to increase on street parking.

Effect of Order:

1. To introduce ‘no waiting at any time’ restrictions on the following lengths of roads:

A Goldington Road (i) On its southern kerb extending a distance approximately 29 metres in an eastern direction and approximately 15 metres in a western direction from its junction with Denmark Street (ii) On its southern kerb extending a distance approximately 15 metres in an eastern direction and approximately 9.5 metres in a western direction from its junction with Dudley Street (iii) On its southern kerb extending a distance approximately 15 metres in an eastern and western direction from its junction with George Street

B Denmark Street (i) On both sides of the road extending a distance approximately 10 metres in a southern direction from its junction with Goldington Road

C Dudley Street (i) On both sides of the road extending a distance approximately 10 metres in a southern direction from its junction with Goldington Road (ii) (North of Rosamond Road) On both sides of the road extending a distance approximately 6 metres in a northern direction from its junction with Rosamond Road (iii) (South of Rosamond Road) On both sides of the road extending a distance approximately 6 metres in a southern direction from its junction with Rosamond Road

D George Street (i) On both sides of the road extending a distance approximately 10 metres in a southern direction from its junction with Goldington Road

E Rosamond Road (i) On both sides of the road extending a distance approximately 10 metres in both an eastern and western direction from its junction with Dudley Street (north and south sides) (ii) On both sides of the road extending a distance approximately 10 metres in both an eastern and western direction from its junction with Street (north and south sides) (iii) On its southern kerb outside and adjacent to property no.1 around the junction into Pembroke Street

F York Street (North of Rosamond Road) On both sides of the road extending a distance approximately 6 metres in a northern direction from its junction with Rosamond Road (South of Rosamond Road) On both sides of the road extending a distance approximately 6 metres in a southern direction from its junction with Rosamond Road

G Fontwell Close On both sides of the road extending a distance approximately 10 metres in a northern direction from its junction with Rosamond Road

2. To introduce a dedicated disabled parking bay on the following length of road

A Pembroke Street (i) One parking space on the western kerb outside property no.92

3. To revoke existing double yellow lines and increase the pay and display / permit holder parking spaces on the following length of road

A Gibbons Road (i) On its south kerb, east of Road for a length approximately 12.5 metres

Further Details of the proposed Order, a plan and a statement of reasons for proposing to make the Order may be examined during normal working hours at Borough Hall, Cauldwell Street, Bedford. BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL (BEDFORD URBAN AREA (NORTH OF THE RIVER EXCLUDING QUEENS PARK AND CPZ AREAS)) (PROHIBITION AND RESTRICTION OF WAITING AND LOADING AND PARKING PLACES) ORDER 2009 (AMENDMENT NO.*) ORDER 201*

BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL in exercise of the powers under Section 1(1), 2(1), to (3) and 4(2) and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“The Act”) and all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act, hereby makes the following Order:

Bedford Borough Council (Bedford Urban Area (North of the River excluding Queens Park and CPZ Areas)) (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting and Loading and Parking Places) Order 2009 as amended shall have effect subject to the following amendments:-

1. This Order shall come into operation on the ** 201* and may be cited as the “Bedford Borough Council (Bedford Urban Area (North of the River excluding Queens Park and CPZ Areas)) (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting and Loading and Parking Places) Order 2009 (Amendment No.*) Order 201*

2. As from the date upon which the Order comes into operation, the provisions of the “Bedford Borough Council (Bedford Urban Area (North of the River excluding Queens Park and CPZ Areas)) (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting and Loading and Parking Places) Order 2009 as amended” shall be varied as follows:

(i) The plan schedule reference “Grid Reference L26 Revision 3” shall be deleted and the plan schedule reference “Grid Reference L26 Revision 4” shall be inserted

(ii) The plan schedule reference “Grid Reference M25 Revision 3” shall be deleted and the plan schedule reference “Grid Reference M25 Revision 4” shall be inserted

(iii) The plan schedule reference “Grid Reference M26 Revision 3” shall be deleted and the plan schedule reference “Grid Reference M26 Revision 4” shall be inserted

The proposals are in response to concerns raised of inconsiderate parking near to road junctions. The proposals aim to improve visibility and access at the respective junctions.

BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL in exercise of the powers under Section 1(1), 2(1), to (3) and 4(2) and Sections 9 and 10 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“The Act”) and all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act, hereby makes the following Order:

2. As from the date upon which the Order comes into operation, the provisions of the “Bedford Borough Council (Bedford Controlled Parking Zone) (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting and Loading and Parking Places) Order 2017 as amended” shall be varied as follows:

(i) The plan schedule reference “Grid Reference I27 Revision 0” shall be deleted and “Grid reference I27 Revision No 1” shall be substituted.
