2 Welcome
It is a great honor for me to welcome you to the Horasis India Meeting 2015 in Interlaken. I am delighted that the Canton of Bern is supporting this globally oriented network event as co-host.
India’s importance and potential for the global economy are undisputed. At the same time, sustainable economic growth poses immense challenges for the economy and the state. Good collaboration between the various players is thus of vital importance. The coming days offer you the opportunity as an entrepreneur, business leader or high-ranking public official to foster this vital exchange and discuss visions for a successful future.
At the same time, this event also provides an ideal platform for consolidating economic relationships between India and Switzerland. India is one of the most important partners in Asia for both Switzerland and the Canton of Bern. Trade and direct investments have been growing significantly in both directions for many years. The Horasis India Meeting offers an excellent opportunity to nurture existing contacts and establish new ones.
The Canton of Bern is very keen to ensure that you greatly enjoy your stay with us. Take advantage of the opportunity and explore the spectacular mountains of the Jungfrau region. Allow yourself to be inspired by the unrivalled beauty of nature.
I wish you an enjoyable and successful stay in the Canton of Bern.
Hans-Jürg Käser President of the Government Canton of Bern Switzerland
3 Welcome
The Canton of Bern stands out for its well-developed infrastructure, moderate corporate taxation and multilingual, highly qualified workforce. Access to renowned academic facilities – including international ones – is excellent: the ISBerne for example, has pupils aged from 3 to 19 from more than 50 nations. The Canton’s central location in Switzerland and Europe enables European and global sales markets to be managed highly successfully. Bern, the federal capital, is the political center of Switzerland. Close contact with politicians and authorities as well as short decision- making paths are assured. Last but not least, the high quality of life and security in the Canton of Bern are second to none and complemented by diverse leisure-time and cultural offerings.
As an essentially high-tech canton, Bern is home to a large number of different innovative organizations whose products make them techno logical market leaders. An example of these is Exilant Ltd, a fast-growing company headquartered in Bangalore, India, which employs more than 1,500 people all over the world, including Singapore, New York and London. It provides ICT services for its customers and develops new production solutions with particular emphasis on the textiles and clothing, machine industry and foodstuffs sectors. In June 2014, Exilant Ltd successfully launched a subsidiary in Bern for the development and sale of its products in Europe.
Welcome to the Canton of Bern!

4 Welcome
It is a great honor for us to be able to host this year’s Horasis India Meeting in Interlaken from July 5-7. On behalf of the authorities and the people of Interlaken, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all participants.
Tourists have been coming to Interlaken for more than 200 years. Invariably they are fascinated by the stupendous natural setting with the world-famous icy icons Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau and the two lakes. The renowned, late lamented Bollywood director Yash Chopra, Interlaken’s honorary ambassador, produced a number of well-known films in our region. To this day, the landscapes in these films prompt many Indians to visit our region.
I hope you will have a successful conference in an inspiring settin g!
