The Band "Pershing's Own" (TUSAB) provides musical support for the leadership of the United States, to include all branches of government, and to a wide spectrum of national and international events in order to connect the Army to the American people. The Band was founded in 1922 by Army Chief of Staff John J. “Black Jack” Pershing to emulate European military bands he heard during World War I. The U.S. Army Band continues to play an important role in events of national and international significance, staging performances from the battlefields of World War II to our Nation’s Capital. Centennial Tidbits are designed to highlight one of the many unique aspects of the Centennial of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and the many different organizations and individuals that are supporting our efforts to meet the National Defense Authorization Act of 2017. These Centennial Tidbits will continue from September 2020 through November 2021, supporting both Arlington National Cemetery’s commemoration events, as well as those events planned by the Society in the US and overseas.
