Dear Holy families of:

EPIPHANY SUNDAY! Epiphany simply means the revelation of Jesus to the world. It’s a of ! Read this story about a concentration camp:

One evening, two prisoners were looking out of the windows. They both looked into the same dark night. You couldn’t even see the fence and the trees around the camp. One prisoner, looking into that endless darkness said, “I only see the darkness, I see nothing. It’s my end!” The other one, looking into same darkness said, “Look over there. Look at those lights. Look at those stars! One day, I will be free!”

One was hopeless; the other was beaming with hope! We’re like one of those two prisoners: a pessimist and optimist. We might have developed the pessimistic attitude due to COVID-19; but we might have strengthened our optimistic character because the greatest STAR of heaven lights our every step towards the MANGER of HOPE!

On the other hand, the magi saw the STAR! And their hearts were filled with joy! That joy guided them to where the STAR was leading them to – the MANGER, where Jesus was. It was their hope and faith that made their trip possible and meaningful. For all their lives they have been waiting for that moment to come: the fullness of God’s revelation in JESUS CHRIST!

Today, our hearts are the MANGER; it cradles Jesus. When we love, and when we fill others’ hearts with hope, we make Jesus known. Therefore, like the magi and hopeful prisoner, let’s take a quantum leap in our faith in God and follow the light of hope and believe that “the Kingdom of God is possible…that it is not an illusion or a figment of an overexcited religious ethical mind…” It is genuine! COVID-19 cannot stop it – it’s coming.

In the midst of these challenging times of COVID-19, let’s become the visible signs of God’s STAR for the year 2021, and place your right hand above your heart, and silently pray this NEW YEAR’S BLESSINGS:

May this year, 2021, be one of good health for me. May I open daily the gifts of my life and grateful for the hidden treasures it contains.

May I keep my eyes on the STAR within me and trust God’s presence in my life as God guides me each day. That each day will always be a joyful day!

May the honor given to Jesus in Bethlehem be that which I extend to every guest who enters my home. May I go often to the “manger” of my heart and visit the God who offers me love and life. And may I become love and life to others 24/7 of my time and 365 days of my life. . Blessings!

Dear HOLY POPLE of St. Paul the Apostle Parish:

A joyful and hopeful New Year 2021 to everyone! With hope, we enter into the threshold of 2021 with a commitment to all of you, and say: “we take you, beloved parishioners in the vineyard of the Lord, to love and serve, for better, for worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, all the days of our life”.

And we begin that commitment by giving you the overdue July 1, 2019 – June 30, 2020 Parish Financial Report. My apology for the delay of this report. Yet, in the spirit of transparency and accountability – the Annual Financial Report is placed in the first bulletin of the New Year for your perusal. As you scrutinize the report, you can notice that revenues were down. COVID-19 greatly affected our financial standing, especially our Sunday Collections which generate the biggest revenue for the parish.

Revenues dropped down slowly through the months, and all you know it, we’re in the red. But the blessings of it all, are: Religious Education and Youth Programs are rolling; Masses are on-going; Parish Offices continue to operate in a scaled manner; are opened; Preschool is contin- uing with limited enrolment; facilities are maintained, and no laid off employee each one is essential to the parish’s operations. And we, the priests and deacons, are keeping ourselves safe and healthy while trying our best to do our ministerial duties to sustain your spiritual needs.

We acknowledged that you are greatly affected by COVID-19, and financially struggling, too. Yet, we are grateful that you are faithfully sending your envelopes to the parish and consistently giving through ONLINE GIVING. Certainly, to maintain the above programs of the parish and continue the spiritual activities of our Church, we desperately need your assistance. So, we hope that you will prayerfully consider increasing your donations to the Church. Each donation-gift will play an important role in helping us maintain the spiritual and ministerial services of St. Paul the Apostle Parish.

Thanking you in anticipation of your for taking the time to read this letter and take a glance of the Annual Financial Report of the Parish.

In the newborn Savior, Jesus,
