Dear Holy :

PEACE is not just an ordinary word, or just a product of human imagination. It’s a creation of ’s ! This peace is everyone’s dream; every human heart desires for it, and it should be our gift to everyone. Read this story:

A man was driving to work and was hit by a woman. They both stopped, and the woman admitted, it was her fault. Her car is a gift from her husband, and she was afraid to go home and tell her husband. She reached into the glove compartment to get the registration and insurance papers. When she opened the compartment, one of the papers came out and she picked it up. It was a note from her husband, saying: “Honey, in case of accident, remember, it is you I , not the car.”

The car is a gift, and it is from the heart; no matter what happens, the heart always understands because the heart is a home of peace and love!

The same thing happened with the disciples. They met an accident – an accident of : they doubted ; abandoned him, and worst of all - they betrayed him. When Jesus appeared to them, instead of scolding them, he calmed their hearts with these words: “Peace be with you!” He offered his peace that is rooted in LOVE! Like in the story, Jesus assured them: “It is you that I love, and not your ; it is you that I care, and not your faults; it is you that I trust and not your betrayals”.

Today, Jesus visited us once more, and greeted us with the most assuring of all words: “Peace be with you!” Those peace-loving greeting reinstated the between God and us, because peace is a Divine Gift!” It is a peace that is “not constructed by tough competition, hard thinking, and individual stardom, but rooted in simply being present to each other and working together in harmony inspired by love”. It is often hidden from the wise and the wealthy, but revealed to those who feel empty, inarticulate and poor.

Now, Jesus is sending you to the world to be a peacemaker - a who is not afraid to say with love to anyone, to a friend, to a stranger and even to an enemy: “PEACE BE WITH YOU!”

As we navigate the Season of , let us pledge to do the following:

PRAY regularly for greater and peace. REACH across boundaries of religion, race, ethnicity, gender, and disabling conditions. LIVE justly in family life, school, work, the marketplace, and the political arena. SERVE those who are poor and vulnerable, sharing more time and talent. GIVE more generously to those in need at home and abroad. ADVOCATE for public policies that protect human life, promote human dignity, and preserve God’s creation.

God bless you all,

Fr. Romy, MS
