County Cllr Gareth Pugh elected member for the Dolforwyn Ward. On August 2nd were granted planning permission for their hybrid application for recycling bulking facility and outline planning for business units on the Abermule Business park. The committee voted 8 for and 7 against, so it was a very close call. I would like to thank Ian Pryce, Martin Aymes and Nigel Williams, all of which spoke very well against the application at the committee. Despite rumours, Abermule Community Council were strongly against the application. Since planning was granted, a number of us have being going through the application because we feel it may not have been handled correctly. Russell George has been very helpful and so has the Welsh Assembly Government in advice we’ve received. This is ongoing, and I will keep everyone informed on any progress we make. If you have any council matters you need to discuss, please do not hesitate to contact me. Cllr Gareth Pugh. mobile no.07976 928109 e.mail [email protected]

ABERMULE WITH LLANDYSSIL COMMUNITY COUNCIL : The major issue of concern right now is the proposed development on the site allocated for an Abermule Business Park; and the aftermath of a decision made by Powys County Council's Planning Committee on the 2nd August '18, to permit the location there of its own Recycling Bulking Facility. Your Community Council has been actively opposing the proposal to utilise this land for that particular RBF purpose; and is therefore disappointed by the manner in which it has been unfairly misrepresented in The County Times and elsewhere. There is a determined passion among all Community Councillors for preserving the delightful character and lifestyle quality offered by Abermule. Your Community Council is aware of a general support in Abermule for meeting both National Government and current world-wide targets for recycling our domestic waste; and our residents are not assertively 'nimby-istic', wanting to reject any recycling activity whatsoever that might happen in our region. Nevertheless, residents may be assured that your Community Council is pursuing all means to argue its case that this site is not appropriate for the function designated by Powys CC; for a whole variety of reasons which your Council has declared quite openly over recent weeks, in regular (monthly) and additional 'planning' meetings - the correspondences, agendas and minutes of which have been posted on the Council's website and on the village notice boards. SMALL GRANTS applications are now invited for more information and application form please visit our website or contact the Clerk. Closing date for applications 17th September, 2018. Next Scheduled Monthly Meetings 7.30pm 5th Sept & 3rd Oct '18 in Llandyssil Old School Hall. Community Councillors: Anne Brewin, Paul Davis, Richard Jerman, Eurwyn Jones, Gwyneth Jones, Sarah Morris, Gary Orrells, Gareth Pugh, Jane Rees, Pat Thomas and Bryan Williams. Chair: Cllr. Eurwyn Jones (01686 630 628); Clerk: Gwilym Rippon (01938 554 065). E-mail: [email protected] Web-site: abermulewithllandyssilcommunitycouncil.org.uk
