Snowdrop helps local children (from newborns to 19 year olds) who are diagnosed with any life-threatening illnesses, eg., cancer, cystic fibrosis, heart condition. By providing ‘Care at Home’ for the children and their families, everyone can continue to have as normal a life as possible. Our professional nursing team of Community Paediatric Nurses, Health Care Assistants and Family Support Counsellor can visit, give advice and teach parents the skills required to look after their child at home. Our Family Volunteer Co-ordinator, with the help of Snowdrop Family Volunteers, is able to organise more general assistance in the home, eg., babysitting. Sadly, some children do die and our Counsellor can be with the families to listen and offer continued invaluable support and advice at this very sad and difficult time.
