Nanny Job Summary Two families seeking an experienced, organized, and caring nanny to provide in-home childcare for two children (both will be ages 3-5 months) roughly 40 hours per week. Position is one year in length (roughly mid-January, 2019 to February/March, 2020). Two families (whose older children are in Montessori school together) offering “nanny share” opportunity in one home in White Bear Lake (close to I-35E and Hwy 96). Home is set up according to basic Montessori standards.

Nanny Duties and Responsibilities: • Tend to the general needs of the children while providing supervision to ensure the children’s safety in day-to-day activities • Engage children in age-appropriate work to encourage the children’s intellectual development, motor skills, etc. • Model appropriate social behaviors to encourage children’s social and emotional development • Monitor the children’s behavior for irregularities pertaining to their health and well-being as well as their physical, emotional, and mental development • In case of illness or injury, provide necessary medical attention; for example, transport the to a doctor or hospital, take the child’s temperature, and administer medications as directed • Instruct the children in proper health and personal care habits, such as diet and toilet behavior; provide assistance and use as needed • Begin teaching children to take care of their environment • Create a safe environment for the children by removing hazards and enforcing appropriate boundaries • Perform housekeeping tasks related to the children’s care • Spend time with the children outdoors; take children for walks, in yard and at park down the street; maximize time children spend outdoors. • Meet with the occasionally to reflect on and plan for the children’s activities and development • Nanny must be willing to use cloth diapers, elimination communication, Janet Lansbury’s interaction techniques, baby led weaning, no screen time for children (TV off when child/children are awake) • Pay: $35,000/year, which includes 6 weeks paid time off (5 sick days, 9 holidays, 20 days when older children’s school is closed)

Nanny Requirements and Qualifications • Non-smoker • High school diploma required • Montessori training/certification or work history strongly preferred • Post-secondary certificate and/or some college • Understanding of child psychology and stages of development • Prior experience in childcare settings (day care center, Montessori school, , nanny) • Proficiency in computer technology, including calendar and scheduling software, web applications. App will be used for daily communication with parents about feedings, diapers, etc. and care of children. • Certification in infant and child first aid and CPR • Basic adherence to White Bear Montessori School’s calendar (parents will be with children or find other care when WBMS is closed).
