There is an ancient legend that says when Jesus reached heaven, his body still The Pastoral Area showed the wounds of his crucifixion. When the people in heaven saw these Masses & Confessions marks, they fell on their knees before Jesus. They were astounded to see how much he had suffered. Then the angel Gabriel said to Jesus: Do all the people Mary Immaculate on earth know and appreciate how much you went through for them and how Sundays: (Vigil) Sat 7pm, much you love them? 8am, 11am, 7pm Jesus replied: Oh no. Only a handful of people in Palestine know that. The rest haven't even heard of me. They don't know who I am. They don't know Weekdays Mon – Fri 7am how much I suffered, and how much I love them. 10am, 7pm, Sat 11am Gabriel was shocked to hear this and said to Jesus: How will all the rest of the Holy Days 7pm (Vigil), 7am, people on earth ever learn about your suffering and love? Jesus said: Just 10am, 7pm before I left, I told Peter, James and John, and a few of their friends, to tell the Holy Days that fall on a Saturday rest of the world for me. They'll tell as many people as they can. These people, in turn, will tell other people. In that way, the whole world will eventually 7pm (Vigil), 11am, 7pm learn about my love for them. Confessions Sat 10.30 - 11am & Gabriel knew how changeable people are, how forgetful they are, and how they 6.30 - 7pm can quickly doubt. So he turned to Jesus and said: But, Lord, what if Peter, James and John forget about you? What if they begin to have doubts about you? St Michael’s And what if the people they tell become frustrated? What if they forget? What if they begin to have doubts about you? Don't you have a backup plan - just in Sundays (Vigil) Sat 6.30pm case? Sunday 9am & 11am (Family) Jesus answered: I did take all these things into account, but decided against a Weekdays (Mon – Fri) 10am backup plan. This is the only plan I have. I'm counting on Peter, James and Liturgy of the Word & Communion on John not to let me down. I'm counting on the people they tell not to let me Wednesdays at 10am down. St Michael’s Church is open from Twenty centuries later, Jesus still has no other plan. He counted on Peter, James 9am-12pm Monday to Friday and John and they didn't let him down. He counted on the people they told, and they didn't let him down. And now Jesus counts on us. You are the salt of the earth. You are the light of the world. 1 World Environment Day: Tuesday 5th June 2018

World Environment Day is a UN Environment-led global event, the single largest celebration of our environment each year, which takes place on June 5 and is celebrated by thousands of communities worldwide. Since it began in 1972, it has grown to become a global platform for public outreach that is widely celebrated across the globe. Most of all, World Environment Day is a day of everyone around the world to take ownership of their environment and to actively engage in the protection of our earth.

India is the global host of World Environment Day this year and “Beat Plastic Pollution” is this year’s theme, urging governments, industry, communities, and individuals to come together and explore sustainable alternatives and urgently reduce the production and excessive use of single-use plastic polluting our oceans, damaging marine life and threatening human health.

Plastic Pollution facts: Every year the world uses 500 billion plastic bags Each year, at least 8 million tonnes of plastic end up in the oceans, the equivalent of a full garbage truck every minute.

In the last decade, we produced more plastic than in the whole last century 50 percent of the plastic we use is single-use or disposable We buy 1 million plastic bottles every minute Plastic makes up 10% of all of the waste we generate

“You and I have a right to our life. It is not given to us by the Irish Constitution or by any law. We have it ‘as a right’ whether we are wealthy or poor, healthy or sick. All human beings have it. For us as a society to now declare that any category of human beings Our Lady of the Wayside should have that right taken from them is a seriously backward Welcome into our faith community step. It effectively says that they don’t exit or, if they do, they do all children who received the not count. That is a manifest injustice. From conception on, a baby Sacrament of Baptism on April 21st. Next celebration of Baptism has within him or herself the full potential to be whatever destiny takes place 19th May, 23rd June, might allow.” and 21st July, Saturdays at 12.00 p.m. N.B.
