Spanish and Turkish tomatoes, the most expensive in Frankfurt

Turkish and Spanish tomatoes reached the most expensive prices on the Frankfurt market in week 13 (from 28 March to 3 April), according to data published by the Bureau of Land Management and Fisheries of Andalusia, supplied by the Service for Inspection, Certification and Technical Assistance of the Foreign Trade Department (Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness).

The tomatoes (without looking at categories) for which the highest prices have been paid at the Frankfurter market have been the Turkish, sold for an average modal price of 1.30 Euro per kilo. The Spanish reached 1.21 Euro/kilo, and the Dutch and Moroccan were marketed for 1.17 and 1.07 Euro/kilo. Although minor as a competitor, the country that actually got the highest price of all was Belgium, with an average modal price in this market of 1.73 Euro per kilo.

As for peppers, the most expensive in the Hamburg market were those from the Netherlands, which were sold for an average of 2.76 €/kg, followed by the Turkish, with 2.67 Euro, and the Spanish and Moroccan, with 2.28 and 2.02 Euro per kilo.

Tomatoes Looking at other markets, in Berlin the average modal price of tomatoes stood at 1.30 Euro per kilo for the Spanish, 2.02 Euro for the Belgian, 1.11 Euro for the Moroccan and 1.25 €/kg for the Turkish.

In Cologne, Spanish tomatoes were sold for 1.23 Euro/kilo, the Belgian for 1.84 Euro, the Dutch for 1.35 Euro and the Turkish for 1.13 Euro per kilo.

In Munich, Spanish tomatoes stood at 1.30 Euro/kilo, the Belgian cost 1.83 Euro, the Moroccan reached 1.48 Euro and those imported from Turkey were sold for an average modal price of 1.52 Euro/kilo.

In , Spanish tomatoes were sold for 1.19 €/kg; in , for 1.28 Euro, and in Perpignan for 1.18 Euro per kilo.

Cherry tomatoes Spanish cherry tomatoes were sold for 3.00 Euro per kilo in Berlin, for 2.99 Euro in Frankfurt, for 2.11 in Hamburg and for 2.50 €/kg in Perpignan.

Meanwhile, the Dutch were marketed for 3.95 Euro per kilo in Berlin, 4.17 Euro in Cologne, 4.52 Euro in Frankfurt, 3.66 Euro in Hamburg and 4.33 Euro per kilo in Munich.

Moroccan cherry tomatoes were sold in Frankfurt for an average of 2.12 Euro per kilo.

Tomatoes on the vine Spanish tomatoes on the vine were sold in Berlin for an average modal price of 1.54 €/kg, in Cologne for 1.39 Euro, in Frankfurt for 1.40 Euro, in Hamburg for 1.46, in Lyon for 1.50, in Munich for 1.58, in Paris for 1.45 and in Perpignan and for 1.13 and 1.50 Euro per kilo.

The Dutch were sold in Berlin for 2.20 Euro per kilo, in Cologne for 1.75 Euro, in Frankfurt for 1.89, in Hamburg for 1.95 and in Munich for 2.13 Euro per kilo.

The Turkish were sold in Berlin for 1.50 Euro per kilo, in Cologne for 1.46 Euro, in Frankfurt for 1.39 and in Hamburg and Munich for 1.35 and 1.60 Euro per kilo.

Peppers In Hamburg, the most expensive peppers (regardless of varieties) have been the Dutch, which stood at 2.76 €/kg, followed by the Turkish with 2.67 Euro, the Spanish with 2.28 and the Moroccan, with 2.02 Euro per kilo.

Looking at other markets, Spanish peppers were sold in Berlin for an average modal price of 2.35 Euro per kilo; in Cologne, they cost 2.33 Euro per kilo; in Frankfurt, they reached 2.13, in Munich 2.45 Euro, in Lyon 2.15, in Perpignan 1.77 and in Paris 2.70 Euro per kilo. The Lamuyo variety was sold in Perpignan for 1.80 Euro per kilo.

Peppers from the Netherlands were sold for 2.79 Euro per kilo in Berlin, for 2.78 Euro In Cologne, for 2.78 in Frankfurt and for 3 Euro per kilo in Munich.

Peppers exported by Morocco were sold in Munich for an average modal price of 2.31 Euro per kilo.

Turkish peppers reached 2.63 Euro per kilo in Berlin, 2.62 Euro in Cologne, 2.91 in Frankfurt, 2.67 in Hamburg and 2.26 Euro per kilo in Munich.

Cucumbers Spanish cucumbers were sold in Berlin for an average modal price of 0.81 Euro per kilo; in Frankfurt, they stood at 1.80 Euro, in Hamburg at 1.65, and in Munich and Paris they cost 0.88 and 1.80 Euro per kilo.

In Berlin, Dutch cucumbers cost € 1.47/kilo, in Cologne, 1.66 Euro, in Frankfurt they stood at 1.47 Euro and in Hamburg and Munich they reached 1.69 and 1.73 Euro per kilo.

Turkish cucumbers were sold for 1.88 Euro/kilo in Berlin, Cologne, Frankfurt and Hamburg and for 1.40 Euro per kilo in Munich.

Aubergines Spanish aubergines (regardless of varieties) were sold in Berlin for an average of 1.23 Euro per kilo, in Cologne for 1.27 Euro, in Frankfurt for 1.25, in Hamburg for 1.05, and the long variety cost 0.93 Euro per kilo in Lyon. Again without looking at varieties, the product was sold in Munich for 1.33 Euro, in Paris for 1.15, and in Perpignan and Toulouse for 0.73 and 0.98 Euro per kilo.

In Berlin, Dutch aubergines reached an average modal price of 1.48 Euro per kilo; in Cologne, they cost 1.68 Euro, in Frankfurt 1.50, and in Hamburg and Munich they cost 1.62 and 1.45 Euro per kilo.

Italy, meanwhile, sold its aubergines for 1.60 Euro per kilo in the Berlin market, for 1.50 Euro in Frankfurt and for 1.29 Euro in Munich.

Aubergines from Turkey reached an average modal price of 2.10 Euro per kilo in Berlin, 1.95 Euro in Cologne, 2.60 in Frankfurt, 2.17 in Hamburg and 2.14 Euro per kilo in Munich.

Courgettes Spanish courgettes were sold for an average modal price of 1.46 Euro per kilo in Berlin, 1.32 Euro in Cologne, 1.41 in Frankfurt, 1.23 in Hamburg, 0.90 in Lyon, 1.48 in Munich, 1.00 in Paris and 0.65 and 1.00 Euro per kilo in Perpignan and Toulouse.

Moroccan courgettes were sold in Berlin for 1.30 Euro per kilo, in Frankfurt for 1.28, in Hamburg for 1.08 and in Munich for 1.38 Euro per kilo.

Lastly, Turkish courgettes were sold in Berlin for an average modal price of 2.00 Euro per kilo, in Cologne for 1.96, in Frankfurt for 2.00 and in Hamburg and Munich for 1.94 and 1.86 Euro per kilo.
