GENERAL PROCUREMENT NOTICE

COMESA-EAC-SADC TRIPARTITE North South Corridor : Preparation of Feasibility Studies, Detailed Engineering Design and Tender Documents for the Rehabilitation of Five Selected Road Sections in , and

1. The COMESA-EAC-SADC TRIPARTITE has received a grant from the African Development Bank hosted NEPAD Infrastructure Project Preparation Facility (IPPF) to finance the Preparation of Feasibility Studies, Detailed Engineering Design and Tender Documents for the Rehabilitation of Five Selected Road Sections of the North South Corridor (NSC) in Botswana, Malawi and Zimbabwe.

2. The principal objectives of this project are to carry out the prerequisite project preparation work to bring the five road sections to a ready state for investment financing. The NSC is a joint COMESA-EAC-SADC Aid for Trade initiative and its primary goal is to reduce the time, and so the costs, of the road and rail transport. It is expected that once the five projects are prepared funds will be sourced to rehabilitate them to a state where they can facilitate the smooth and timely transportation of goods, services and people.

3. The project includes the following components:

a. Preparation of Feasibility Studies, Detailed Engineering Designs and Tender Documents for rehabilitation of the 64 km Pandamatenga – Ntata road section in Bostwana.

b. Preparation of Feasibility Studies, Detailed Engineering Designs and Tender Documents for rehabilitation of the 111 km -Martins Drift (border with ) road section in Bostwana.

c. Preparation of Feasibility Studies, Detailed Engineering Designs and Tender Documents for rehabilitation of the 205 km Bunda Turn Off / M1 Junction – Jenda road section in Malawi.

d. Preparation of Feasibility Studies, Detailed Engineering Designs and Tender Documents for rehabilitation of the 120 km road section in Zimbabwe.

e. Preparation of Feasibility Studies, Detailed Engineering Designs and Tender Documents for rehabilitation of the 200 km Gwanda – Beit Bridge road section in Zimbabwe.

f. Financial Audit services.

4. The consultancy services for the preparation of feasibility studies for the five road projects listed above will be acquired by using the Quality Cost Based Selection method and those for Financial Audits services will be acquired by using the Least Cost Selection method, using international shortlists, in accordance with Bank's Rules of Procedure for the Use of Consultants May 2008 Edition, Revised July 2012. Bidding documents are expected to be available in June 2014
