No Passport Required: Authentic Thai Street Market Food Now Available at on Montclair’s “Main Street” Veteran Thai Restaurateur Opens a New Thai Concept, Kai Yang

Montclair, NJ, September 6, 2018 - A timely new Thai concept arrives in Montclair today: Kai Yang. While ethnic street foods didn’t even start trending until last year, restaurateur Sheree Sarabhaya, the Chef/Owner of popular Thai restaurants (Spice II, Montclair and Boon Thai Kitchen, Livingston), grew up in enjoying freshly prepared street market foods such as kai yang, which literally translates to “grilled chicken”. That’s why she’s pleased to open Kai Yang and share this authentic, flavorful food of her youth, where guests will feel as if they’ve entered a colorful, vibrant Thai street market in the 49-seat (1,100sf) space. Fresh, organic chickens will be brined or seasoned with Thai spices, marinade, rotisserie grilled, and served with traditional papaya and sticky sides (with variations that include or ). The menu will also feature several of her signature Thai dishes from Spice II, which closed at the end of August to make way for Kai Yang. Kai Yang is open daily, Wednesday to Monday (closed Tuesdays), conveniently located on Bloomfield Avenue near The Wellmont Theater and Ani Ramen House. Fortuitously, Kai Yang’s opening coincides with National Chicken Month.

Pixelexperience custom-designed Kai Yang to embody a Thai experience that focuses on street market traditions – via modern and vintage details. These markets offer a balance of authentic flavors and home-cooked , exploring the unique northern Thai culture and heritage. Inspired by these eclectic stalls (that are the must visit food meccas for many countries), they included street art, vintage posters, custom tiles/patterns and neon made by a local artist. These elements and authentic Thai fixtures complement both eastern and western cultures.

Sheree, whose popular Thai restaurants have won awards and gained a loyal following, stated, “Based on the increased popularity of various cultures’ ‘street market’ foods, I felt the timing was perfect to share the beloved food from my country, Kai Yang. We wanted to create a dynamic, exciting space where our guests can enjoy quality, freshly prepared and affordable dishes.”

An authentic Thai street food experience awaits guests as they are met with the rich, unique scents and flavors of the spices and comfort foods. Sweet, savory, hot and spicy combinations have made Thai cooking a favorite cuisine and this experience is a food lover’s dream. Every mouthwatering dish is a flavor bonanza where the food will focus on the organic rotisserie grilled chickens served half or whole, with the traditional accompaniments of papaya salad, sticky rice and dipping sauces. Add-on options include Moo Ping (grilled pork ), Nuea Yang (sliced grilled beef) and Kai (minced chicken). Various Yum side dishes complement the kai yang including Larb Kai, Moo (grilled pork), and Nuea Nam Tok (grilled beef).
