our Story poncho’s began as a small Mexican food takeout in 1972. Naming it after ‘‘Poncho’’ Vasquez, the whole family took part in its beginning. Isabel Vasquez and her sister, Socorro, did the cooking starting out making only one small pot of red and green chili each day. Using family recipes, great care was taken that every item was homemade using only the freshest ingredients. As the size of the cooking pots grew, as well as the number, in 1975 Poncho’s expanded. Converting the Vasquez home behind the takeout and adding more family members and others to its employment, it became a full- service restaurant and bar. Looking closely, one can imagine the floorplan of the old house. Even though Isabel Vasquez has since passed away, the quality that she continually strived for lives on, along with her recipes for delicious Mexican food. The Vasquez family still runs the business, aided by long-time employees that maintain the standard of excellence that has always held such importance. We hope that you enjoy each visit into our ‘‘home’’ and find good food and friendly faces every time you return.
