Amir Khusrow was a Sufi mystic, a poet as well as prolific musician.
He is regarded as the “Father of Qawalli”. He is also credited with enriching Indian classical music by introducing Persian and Arabic elements in it, and was the originator of the Khayal and Tarana styles of music 8

Purandara Dasa is often considered as the Father of Carnatic /Karnatak Music. He has composed thousands of keertanas and are still popular among Carnatic singers. 9
Pandit Jasraj is an Indian classical vocalist, belonging to the Mewati Gharana. A renowned classical singer, celebrated for his rich, soulful, and sonorous voice, capable of singing all in 3½ octaves. He was awarded Padma 10 Vibhushan in 2000.
Girija Devi was an Indian classical singer of the Seniya and Banaras gharanas. She performed classical and light classical music and helped elevate 11 the profile of thumri.
Akhtaribai Faizabadi much popular as Begum Akhtar. She was a well- known Indian singer of Ghazal, Dadra, and Thumri genres of Hindustani classical music. She received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for vocal music, Padma Shri and later, Padma Bhushan, by Govt. of India. She was given the title of Mallika-e-Ghazal 12

PAKHAWAJ It is believed that the Tabla was derived from Pakhawaj. Pakhawaj usually accompanies Dhrupad style of singing. Pakhawaj is a barrel- 13 shaped drum with two heads which are made of layers of skin.

SAROD has a small wooden body covered with skin and a fingerboard that is covered with steel. Sarod does not have a fret and has twenty-five strings of which fifteen are sympathetic strings. A metal gourd acts as a resonator.
The strings are plucked with a triangular plectrum. 14

Born on 4 February, 1922 in Karnataka, the legendary Khayal singer Pandit Bhimsen Joshi is the exponent of the Kirana Gharana. The Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honour was 15 conferred upon him in 2009.
