Folly Farm Centre is an environmentally sustainable, countryside wedding venue nestled in the heart of a 250-acre nature reserve, yet conveniently located just 10 miles from Bristol and Bath.

As one of 's hidden gems, 'Folly' as it is affectionately known, offers peaceful seclusion and the most breath-taking views across Lake and the ; an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Surrounded by wildlife and ancient woodlands, Folly Farm is perfect in every season; from the carpets of spring bluebells and wildflower meadows of summer, to the golden tones of autumn and the dramatic winter skies, the backdrop for your day is sure to be beautiful.

All weddings at Folly Farm include exclusive use of the entire venue, including all the 18th- century farm buildings, for a unique and completely private celebration. Invite close family and friends to arrive the day before the wedding and share the fun of decorating and personalising the venue, followed by a pre-wedding evening meal.

Choose to hold your ceremony in the charming oak-beamed converted barn, the traditional Old Dairy, or the glass atrium filled with natural light. Alternatively, you can choose to say 'I do' outside with a ceremony overlooking the or beneath the apples trees in the orchard.

Owned and managed by Wildlife Trust, all profits are gift-aided back to the Trust to protect local wildlife and inspire people about the importance and benefits of nature. Your wedding at Folly Farm will not only be an incredible day, but will leave an incredible legacy.

Accommodation at Folly Farm Farmhouse-style accommodation sleeping up to 46 guests.

Here at Folly Farm we are known for our two-night weddings, where you have exclusive use from 2pm on the day of arrival (usually a Friday) until 11am on the day of departure (usually a Sunday). This gives you the chance to invite close family and friends to arrive the day before your wedding and share the fun of decorating and personalising the venue, followed by a pre-wedding evening meal, if required. The 20 bedrooms at Folly Farm can accommodate up to 46 guests in total, including the wedding couple.

The Farmhouse – 10 bedrooms

Sleeping up to 26 guests, The Farmhouse offers comfortable country-style accommodation with all bedrooms leading off from the central atrium, complete with comfy sofas, a real log fire and a glass ceiling.

The atrium offers the perfect area for those wishing to celebrate a little longer by winding down with a glass of wine or cider before they head off to bed.

Within The Farmhouse is a professional kitchen available for self-catering use on the evening before your wedding and for breakfast each morning, if required. The adjacent ‘Old Diary’ dining room is ideal for group dining and can seat 46 guests.

Alternatively, our caterers offer a selection of dinner menu options, including informal BBQs and buffets as well as a drop-off service which includes pre-prepared meals that you can cook and serve yourselves. Breakfasts can also be fully catered with hot and cold breakfast options available for all guests.

The Studios – 10 bedrooms

Sleeping up to 20 guests, the self-contained studios are located just a stone’s throw from the Farmhouse with stunning views over Chew Valley Lake, the Mendip Hills and beyond.

All studio bedrooms are located on the ground floor.

Our camping field may be available, depending on the season, and can accommodate approximately 15 tents. Folly Farm is in a lovely elevated spot with very little light pollution, so campers may experience beautiful starry skies on clear nights.

There is an additional charge for camping, as below:

Studio 8 – A Popular Choice for Wedding Couples

Whilst the wedding couple are free to choose any bedroom as their own for the wedding night, Studio 8 is the most popular choice.

A light and spacious bedroom with exposed beams, vibrant fabrics and ambient lighting, Studio 8 has a super king-size bed, a modern and spacious shower room and a separate living area with a comfy sofa and flat-screen TV (which can also be used as a dressing area).

From this room, open the stable door and admire the breath-taking views across the valley. This room is located opposite the entrance to The Willow Barn with direct access to the courtyard area, making it the perfect room for pre-wedding preparations.

Finish the evening with drinks under the stars by the fire pit* or in the glass-roofed atrium. *There is an additional charge of £95 for use of the fire pit, including logs and firelighters. Hay bale seating can also be arranged for £5 per hay bale.

Terms & Conditions

The following are our terms and conditions to which all wedding bookings are subject. A copy of these terms and conditions signed by the Client implies acceptance of these terms and conditions (the “Agreement”).

FORMATION OF CONTRACT

1.1) to secure a booking the Client shall sign and return a copy of these terms and conditions and pay the Booking Deposit due to the Centre. A booking will not constitute a legal contract until the Centre has confirmed in writing to the Client receipt of both the Booking Deposit and the signed terms and conditions.

The Centre may cancel at any stage any functions of whatever nature if it believes that to allow the function to proceed could contravene the law. In such a case any contract shall be null and void and the Centre’s liability will be limited to the return of any deposits paid.

The Agreement is personal to the Client and cannot be transferred or assigned to any third party. The Client is not entitled to permit anyone other than their caterer, suppliers, external contractors and guests to have access to the property during the Hire Period.

The Client is only permitted to use the Centre during the Hire Period for the purposes of a private wedding celebration.

At no time during the Hire Period will the Client have a right to exclusive possession of the property. At all times during the Hire Period members of staff or representatives of the Centre shall be entitled to enter the property.

CIVIL CEREMONIES

1.2) The Client is responsible for booking the date and time of their civil ceremony or partnership on the Event Date with the Registrar and making all payments due to the Registrar for conducting the ceremony. The Client is responsible for informing the Centre of the ceremony time. The Centre cannot accept responsibility for any errors in ceremony arrangements.

CAPACITY

1.3) the maximum number of guests allowed to attend an event at the property on the Event Date is 150. Seating and table layouts must be authorised by the Centre before the Event Date. Where reasonably possible the Client shall inform the Centre of any guests requiring disabled access to ensure this is adequately considered in any layout plan. Prior to the Event Date the Client and the Centre will meet to agree a seating and table layout for the civil ceremony (“Agreed Ceremony Layout”) and the wedding reception (the “Agreed Wedding Reception Layout”). The Centre reserves the right to dictate where tables are placed to ensure compliance any statutory requirements including fire and health & safety regulations.

MARQUEE

1.4) The Client may erect a marquee (on the Eastern side of the Oak Room only) for the duration of the Hire Period. If the Client elects not to use one of the Centre’s approved marquee suppliers it must notify the Centre in writing at least 30 days before the Event Date and pay the Marquee Surcharge.

PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES

1.5) All buildings at the Property are non-smoking areas (for the avoidance of doubt this includes all bedrooms). Smoking is only allowed outside and guests are kindly asked to use the cigarette bins provided.

Use of fireworks are strictly prohibited to avoid disturbance of wildlife at the Property.

The use of candles (inside and outside) is prohibited unless they are securely positioned in a suitable glass hurricane lantern or similar, to prevent them falling over and any wax dripping onto any surface. No other night lights or naked flames may be used.

The use of stroboscopic lighting and smoke vapour equipment is strictly prohibited. The use of paper or metallic confetti is not allowed outside, only fresh or dried bio-degradable petal confetti may be used.

The use of controlled drugs is strictly prohibited at the Property and any person reasonably believed to be in breach of this condition will be asked to leave. Similarly, any person who behaves in an abusive manner towards any of the Centre’s staff will be asked to leave.

The supply of alcohol to guests under 18 years of age is strictly prohibited.

The service of alcoholic drinks by any external contractor after 12pm on the Event Date is prohibited.

The Client is responsible for the behaviour of their guests at the Property during the Hire Period. The Centre reserves the right to end or suspend the wedding event or the entire Hire Period if at any time a guest, or a number of guests behave in an anti-social manner such as fighting and other aggressive behaviour.

Dogs and any other pets are not allowed at the Property other than assistance dogs by prior arrangement with the Centre.

No unauthorised direction signs or balloons are permitted on the public highways leading to the Property.

Access to the enclosed pond area (as shown on the Centre Plan) by any children under 16 years old is strictly prohibited.

Access by guests after dark to the fields, apple orchard, pond area and sensory garden as shown on the Centre Plan is strictly prohibited.

No unauthorised camping by guests is permitted in fields other than the designated camping area shown on the Centre Plan.

The Client is responsible for ensuring that adequate crèche facilities/and or adult supervision is provided during the Hire Period for any children at the Property.

The unauthorised moving of the Centre’s indoor furniture and equipment outside is strictly prohibited.

The Client is responsible for ensuring that power points are not overloaded. Only one item of electrical equipment may be connected to each power point.

The use of extension leads across internal walkway areas or out of windows is strictly prohibited.

HIRE FACILITIES & SERVICES

2.1) the following services and facilities are provided by the Centre and are included in the Hire Charge during the Hire Period:

(i) Hire of all overnight accommodation at the Property including both the farmhouse bedrooms and the self- catering units;

(ii) Use of the farmhouse kitchen facilities including the cutlery, crockery, glassware (the “Centre’s Tableware”). The Centre’s Tableware may only be used by the Client for informal meals in the dairy. We do not provide cutlery, crockery, glassware or table linen for the wedding breakfast. It is the responsibility of the Client or its external caterer to provide all crockery, cutlery and glassware for use on the Event Date.

(iii) Use of up to 10 round banqueting tables (5ft 6”), 100 banqueting chairs (lime washed finish with black velour seating pads) and two tables for use by the Registrar.

(iv) Use of the Centre’s CD player during the ceremony and drinks reception (for background music only)

(v) The Centre will ensure that the required tables and chairs are set out for the Client’s use by 5pm on the day before the Event Date in accordance with the Agreed Ceremony Layout.

(vi) Following the wedding ceremony the Centre shall be responsible for moving the tables and chairs in accordance with the Agreed Wedding Reception Layout.

(vii) For the avoidance of doubt the Client and its external caterer shall be responsible for the setting out and clearing away of any cutlery, crockery, glassware and floral arrangements.

(viii) After the wedding reception the Centre shall be responsible for removing all tables and chairs not required for the purposes of the evening entertainment.

DEPOSITS & PREPAYMENTS

3.1) the outstanding balance of the Hire Charge and any other fees (if applicable plus VAT) shall be due 2 months before the Event Date. See Condition [4] regarding Cancellation Charges that may apply.

Prices quoted are subject to variation in the event of a change in Value Added Tax or other statutory change outside the Centre’s control.

The Client agrees to pay the Centre Additional Charges for any extra goods or services provided at the request of the Client or any person agreed to have the requisite authority either before or during the Hire Period.

Payment by BAC's, bankers draft or such credit cards (charges apply for Amex) as are recognised by the Centre.

The Centre is unable to provide any credit facilities to private individuals.

In the event of full prepayment being required by the Centre, full prepayment of all charges, including VAT must be made, or credit facilities agreed, 2 months prior to the event.

All sums payable under the Agreement are due for payment on presentation of the invoice. In the event of any query relating to the invoice, the Client must notify the Centre within 2 months of the invoice date and the client's obligation to pay all outstanding balances immediately will not be affected.

The Centre reserves the right to charge interest at a rate of 2% points above the Bank of Scotland Plc base rate for each 28 day period, or part thereof on any outstanding balances.

PAYMENT SCHEDULE

3.2) by signing this Agreement the Client confirms that it has read and understood the terms and conditions of hire. The Client agrees to the following payment schedule in respect of any payments due under this Agreement:

CANCELLATIONS & EVENT INSURANCE

4.1) The Client may cancel the Event Date by giving the Centre written notice (by recorded delivery) to that effect, cancellation will be effective from the date that the notification is received.

In addition to retaining the Booking Deposit, if cancellation is received:

90 days or more from the Event Date then 50% of the Balance of the Hire Charge shall be payable.

If cancellation is received less than 90 days before the Event Date 100% of the Balance of the Hire Charge shall be payable.

The Client is advised to purchase event insurance as the Booking Deposit is non-refundable and in the event of cancellation by the Client relevant charges will apply (see Clause 3.2 above). Most wedding insurance policies cover unforeseen circumstances beyond your control but normally not for unexpected pregnancy or breakdown of the relationship. Whilst the Centre understands that personal circumstances can change, it cannot bear any such risk and all bookings are subject to the terms and conditions of hire as contained in this Agreement.

ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE TIMES

4.2. (i) Occupying the centre on the first day of the Hire Period implies that the bedrooms will be available for the function guests from 15:00. Function rooms will be available for use from 17:00. ii) All guests are need to vacate their bedrooms by 11:00 on the day of departure, late check-out will incur a late departure fee of per person per room of £20.00 per hour.

All function rooms must be vacated by 11:00am. The Client must comply with the stated departure times unless alternative times have been previously agreed in writing by the Centre. The Client must ensure that all function rooms, restaurant and kitchen are left in a clean and tidy state. All movable items, including the Centre’s Tableware, must be left where originally found. The Centre reserves the right to keep the damages deposit of £250.00 if there are damages and any additional cleaning needed, should the Client not leave all relevant areas in a suitably clean and sanitary state.

The Client must ensure removal of all decorations, equipment and any other items from the Centre at the end of the Hire Period. If any items of lost property are found by Centre staff following the Event Date they will be retained by the Centre for a maximum of 1 week after the Event Date. The Centre accepts no responsibility for any property belonging to the Client, his guests or agents at the Property at any time.

DAMAGE, BREAKAGES & THEFT

5.1) any damage caused to the Property during the Hire Period (including all fixtures and fittings, furnishings and equipment) will be the responsibility of the Client if caused by the Client, his agents or guests. The Centre reserves the right to charge the Client for any and all breakages and stock loss, including glassware, crockery, cutlery, kitchen utensils and any damage to the Centre's buildings or its surroundings, we do have. The replacement cost will be equivalent to the current purchase value of relevant items.

The Centre shall be entitled to charge the Client if the £250.00 deposit does not cover for any loss or damage which occurs during the Hire Period (including but not limited to the following items):

(i) Any additional cleaning of the Property that is necessary as a result of the Client’s use of the Property in accordance with Condition 4.2 (ii);

(ii) Any repair of the Property that is necessary as a result of the Client’s use of the Property (including but not limited to damage to the building (e.g. broken windows) fixtures and fittings and equipment (e.g. fire extinguishers let off, damage to the Centre’s CD music system) and/or furnishings (e.g. broken tables or chairs); and

(iii) Any damage caused by the Client, its agents or guests by unauthorised positioning of nails, pins etc to secure decorations and or equipment.

The Centre shall notify the Client in writing within 14 days of the amount of the Additional Charges and the Client will reimburse the Centre within 14 days of receipt of the written notification.

LIABILITY

6.1) Save as contained in statute the Centre will not be liable or responsible for any loss, damage or inconvenience of any type of kind.

The Centre will not be liable for any loss of or damage to, the property of any guest or other person in the Centre except as defined in the Hotel Proprietors Act 1956 or as otherwise provided by statute.

The Client will indemnify the Centre against any loss or damage to, the property of any guest, or by any other person attending the function, to any part of the Centre or its fixtures or equipment, or to any property belonging to third parties.

All cars must be parked in the designated car park. All cars are left at the owner’s risk and the Centre accepts no responsibility for cars parked at the Property.

SETTLEMENTS & INTEREST

7.1) if an Additional Charges invoice is rendered after the Hire Period, any balance is due for payment within 14 days of the invoice date.

The centre reserves the right to charge interest on overdue accounts at a compound rate of 2% per calendar month or part thereof.

LAW

8.1) these conditions and the contract of which they form a part shall be governed by English Law and the parties to the contract hereby submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of .

THIRD PARTIES

9.1) The Agreement and these Terms and Conditions are between the Centre and the Client. No terms of the Agreement is enforceable under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 by any person who is not party to the Agreement.

FORCE MAJEURE

10.1) The Centre shall not be liable for any breach of its obligations under this agreement resulting from causes beyond its reasonable control including but not limited to fires, strikes, riots, embargos, inability to obtain supplies, or regulations of a civil or military authority.

WHOLE AGREEMENT

11.1) this agreement contains the entire understanding of the parties and supersedes all prior written or verbal agreements or representations. No variation will be binding unless in writing and signed by an authorised representative of the Centre.

ENGAGEMENT OF EXTERNAL CONTRACTORS

12.1) Should the Client wish to employ the services of any external contractor, they will confirm such an arrangement with the Centre and the Centre reserves the right, in its absolute discretion to refuse to allow any third party contractor to provide services at the Property. If the request is accepted the Client hereby undertakes to indemnify the Centre against claims made against it resulting from any act or default of such external contractor. All external contractors shall be in the possession of up-to-date public liability insurance and responsible for applying all the requirements laid out by the health and safety executive, including cleaning and sanitising all areas used in the kitchens, restaurant and function rooms. The Centre reserves the right to charge the Client an additional fee should the client and external contractor not leave all relevant areas in a suitably clean and sanitary state. It is the Client's responsibility to ensure that all external contractors abide by these arrangements.

A list of the Centre's preferred caterers will be provided to the Client when confirming a booking. In the event of the client not opting to choose one of these caterers, the Client will be liable to pay an additional fee of £300.00 to allow for an external caterer to be on site (the “Caterer Surcharge”). The external caterer will have full use of kitchen facilities, however, the quality or quantity of kitchen utensils provided by the Centre cannot be guaranteed. It is responsibility of the Client’s external caterer to ensure that they have all necessary stock, utensils and equipment to provide the agreed services on the Event Date. If the Client employs the services of any external contractors for the provision of outdoor inflatable play equipment (bouncy castles or similar) it shall provide the Centre with a copy of the contractor’s up to date Public Liability Insurance (minimum cover £5 million) prior to the Hire Period.

DECORATIONS, MUSIC & LIGHTING

13.1) The Client shall not affix any materials to walls or ceilings of the Centre by the use of nails, screws, pins or any adhesive tape or any substance of any kind without prior permission from the Centre. Any gas or helium canisters must be taken off the property and disposed of appropriately. Any canisters left on site will be charged accordingly.

The Centre has an approved licence to play both live and recorded music within the Oak room only. The licence allows music to be played until midnight. If midnight is breached then a £250.00 fine will be issued. To help maintain a satisfactory level of maximum sound/noise levels, we have an instrument called a noise limiter and all PA, amplifiers and music systems will plug in to this device to enable the sound level to be capped at approximately 90 dB on the dance floor.

The Client must ensure that all discos, bands and entertainment booked during the Hire Period have a valid Public Liability Insurance Certificate (minimum cover £5 million) and that all equipment used is Portable

Appliance Tested (PAT). The Centre reserves the right to request a copy of this documentation at any time and will refuse permission to any agent or external contractor who does not have evidence of appropriate Public Liability Insurance and PAT inspection.

The Client must ensure that no electrical equipment for use outside is connected to the mains electricity supply other than by the three outdoor power points located in the archway (between the Willow Room and the self catering units).

The Property buildings and its surrounds accommodate a host of wildlife including bats, owls and newt species. The level of lighting that is currently provided allows sufficient lighting for your guests to safely travel between buildings and the car park whilst the low level lighting minimises the disturbance to the animals in and around the buildings and is also planned to prevent your guests from entering areas which are not lit at night time, including the apple orchard, pond area and sensory garden.

CONDUCT

14.1) The Client shall be responsible for the orderly conduct of the Event and shall ensure that nothing will be done which constitutes a breach of law or in any way causes a nuisance or infringes on any licensing laws or illegal gaming or betting laws.

Guests are also reminded that the Property is situated within a nature reserve and all guests are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful manner when on site. Utmost care should be taken not to harm any living creature or damage any vegetation on the nature reserve. The Client is responsible for the arrival and departure of guests in a quiet and orderly fashion.
