I study alongside many high “calibre students from various “ disciplines, such as music, dance and live arts.

Dawn Richmond-Gordon MA Contemporary Arts

I was really attracted to the MA Contemporary Arts because unlike other courses, it combines many different types of media. I was also impressed by the excellent facilities on offer, including amazing performance spaces, and it offered a lot of flexibility for my creativity.

I chose this course because it directly followed on from my undergraduate degree and was perfect for what I wanted to explore academically. I study alongside many high calibre students from various disciplines, such as music, dance and live arts. This has enabled me to gain knowledge and inspiration from my peers in an environment where I’m free to express anything I want to. The course has certainly brought a lot out of me. I love the campus too; the space is beautiful and green and is the perfect environment for me to work in.

The level of support that I have received has been fantastic: you can choose to access as little or as much as you need. It’s a big difference from being an undergraduate but I find that the harder you work, the more rewarding it is. Once you start your course and find your feet, the course and its community are brilliant. 26

The true strength of the

“Cheshire campus and the reason that so many students go on to further study is the fantastically supportive and “ open nature of the academic and technical staff.

Shane Heffernan Postgraduate researcher MSc Exercise and Sport Science:Physiology

I first came to Manchester Metropolitan University in 2008 to study Exercise and Sport Science at undergraduate level, a course that resonated with me such that I stayed to complete an MSc. During my MSc, my hard work and dedication was recognised and I was appointed as a research assistant to Dr Alun Williams and the sports genomics laboratory, funded by the Institute for Performance Research.

In my opinion the true strength of the Cheshire campus and the reason that so many students go on to further study (both at Manchester Met and elsewhere) is the fantastically supportive and open nature of the academic and technical staff.

The research academics based at the Cheshire campus are not just elite in their own fields, published in top academic journals, but are also published in other related fields, showing their diversity. Because of this academic excellence, learning from these academics has been and will continue to be a valuable privilege through my PhD research and the rest of my academic career. I would highly recommend any student interested in studying exercise and sport science, human exercise physiology, muscle and tendon ageing, biological material mechanics and dental injury and exercise, sport and health genomics to continue their further education at the Cheshire campus at Manchester Metropolitan University. 34 Accommodation Free and student living WiFi Feeling safe and comfortable in your new Cost-effective home is important when coming to university rent includes and we make the process of choosing your all bills and accommodation simple and straightforward. insurance

The provision of educational services by The Manchester Metropolitan University is subject to terms and conditions of enrolment and contract which can be found at mmu.ac.uk/academic/casqe/ regulations/docs/policies_regulations.pdf The University will do all that it reasonably can to provide educational services as described in the prospectus, on the website, or in other documents issued by it, to appropriately enrolled students. Sometimes circumstances beyond the control of the University mean that it cannot provide such educational services. Examples of such circumstances include: industrial action by University staff or third parties; the unanticipated departure of key members of University staff; power failure; acts of terrorism; damage to buildings or equipment; the acts of any governmental or local authority; or where the numbers recruited to a course are so low that it is not possible to deliver an appropriate quality of education for students enrolled on it. In these circumstances, the University will take all reasonable steps to minimise disruption to those services and to affected students, by, for example, offering affected students the chance to move to another course or institution or by delivering a modified version of the same course. However, to the full extent that is possible under the general law the University excludes liability for any loss and/or damage suffered by any applicant or student as a result of those circumstances. The University will use all reasonable endeavours to deliver the course in accordance with the description applied to it in the University’s prospectus for the academic year in which you begin the course. However, the University will be entitled to make reasonable changes to the course (including to the content and syllabus of the course where developments in the subject area make that necessary, or to the location of the course or the method of delivery or assessment of the course) where that will enable the University to deliver a better quality of educational experience to students enrolled on the course. In making any such changes, the University will aim to keep the changes to the minimum necessary to achieve the required quality of experience and will notify and consult with affected students in advance about any changes that are required. If the University changes your course and you are not satisfied with the changes, you will be offered the opportunity to withdraw from the programme and, if required, reasonable support to transfer to another provider. The University is committed to the achievement of equal opportunities. This is central to our mission as a University and as a provider of higher education. This commitment is set out in full in our Equal Opportunities Policy and Action Plan. 42 A warm welcome to our international students is home to more international students than any other region outside London and we welcome over 3,000 students from 120 countries to the University every year.
