New safety precautions introduced on Humble ISD grounds Humble ISD’s top priority is to educate children in a safe environment. One way the district has improved student safety is by making sure emergency response teams can do their jobs quickly and efficiently. Each Humble ISD campus has numbers painted on every driveway entering the grounds and every exterior door. This is to provide a faster, more efficient way for emergency services to reach the area of the school where they are needed. By decreasing the amount of time that it takes to find the different parts of a school, the health and safety of the students within that school is increased. “This will greatly increase the efficiency at which emergency responders can reach the areas of the buildings where they are needed,” Solomon Cook, Humble ISD Chief of Police, said. Each driveway entering a campus has an ID number. Each exterior doorway into a school has an ID number. Once emergency services have been called, schools can tell them to enter through a specific allows first responders to reach the area where they Article by Public Communications Intern Megan Krippel, driveway and door by using the number system. Middle schools will get wood gym floors When middle school students return to Atascocita, Humble, Timberwood and Woodcreek middle schools, their gyms will have wood floors instead of sport court. As a part of the 2018 Bond, all Humble ISD middle schools will have wood floors. Competitive basketball is typically played on wood floors, not the sport court that is currently in place. Creekwood and Riverwood middle schools will get new wood gym floors by August 2020. CMS and RMS received new air conditioning systems this summer and wood floors could not be installed at the same time as the air conditioning systems were being replaced. West Lake and Ross Sterling middle schools already have wood gym floors.
