THE TERRY FOUNDATION 2007-2008 ANNUAL ^ + ★ ★ MANY STARS COME FROM TEXAS MESSAGE f r o m t h e FOUNDER s the Terry Foundation approaches its twenty-second anniversary, A a modest beginning in 1986 has evolved into the largest private source of scholarship funding for six Texas public universities. After its first seventeen years at the University of Texas at Austin and Texas A&M University, the Foundation expanded in 2004 to include Scholars at the University of Houston and at Texas State University-San Marcos. In 2005, the Board of Directors approved additional growth for the Terry Foundation Scholarship Program to the University of Texas at San Antonio and the University of Texas at Dallas. The first Scholars for UT-Dallas and UT-San Antonio were selected at interviews in April, 2006. This past April, the Foundation selected 196 new 2008 Scholars. This will bring the total number of active Terry Scholars at all six universities to more than 675. Howard L. Terry The spring of 2008 also brought graduation to 127 Terry Scholars who join a growing body of Scholar Alumni that now numbers over 1,200. Our growing family of graduates are serving their communities in virtually every occupation and field of service imaginable. We greatly appreciate the many letters we get from our alumni around the world. On behalf of the Board of Directors and the Foundation staff, we would like to thank all the participating university staffs for their invaluable assistance during our annual interview process as well as their continued support throughout the year. Terry he Terry Foundation’s goal is to improve and develop the T State of Texas by assisting Texas students to attend the state’s Finest public universities. The Foundation hopes that these students will have a significant impact on the future leadership of the state and nation. To achieve this goal, the Foundation awards scholarships to students who meet the high standards set by the Founders. What began in 1986 as a small scholarship program is now the state’s largest private source of scholarships for the University of Texas at Austin, Texas A&M University, the University of Fiouston, Texas State University-San Marcos, the University of Texas at San Antonio, and the University of Texas at Dallas, with over 650 Terry Scholars enrolled.
