HORSE EVENT RULES 1. The Ararat Show Society Inc. will be conducted under the Rules of the Society. 2. All entries are made subject to the Rules & Guidelines of the Victorian Agricultural Shows Ltd. (VAS) Please refer to VAS published Rules & Guidelines – www.vicagshows.com.au 3. The Horse Section Committee reserves the right to refuse or cancel any entry without offering any reason for doing so. 4. Participants in the Horse Events at the Ararat Show acknowledge that equestrian activities are dangerous and that accidents causing death, bodily injury, disability and property damage, can and do happen. Horse can act in sudden and unpredictable (changeable) ways especially if frightened or hurt. All competitors acknowledge this and enter at their own risk 5. Competitors agree not to drink alcohol or take drugs prohibited by law before or during the Ararat Show Horse Events 6. The use of tranquillisers, stimulants or any drugs capable of affecting the performance or behaviour of any horses is forbidden (Refer to VAS Rules & Guidelines). 7. Wearing an approved hard hat is compulsory for everyone competing on, working in or schooling or riding or for any other reason a part of the Ararat Show Society Inc. while on the show grounds. 8. Competitors agree that they are responsible for all costs incurred as as result of attending the Ararat Show Societies Horse Events 9. Lunging of horses may take place on the designated ring up until 8.30am when lunging must cease. 10. Protests or complaints must be made in writing to the Horse Section Directors within 15 minutes of completion of events, Such complaints to be accompanied by fee of $50.00 which will be forfeited if the protest is deemed to be frivolous, incorrect, non-factual or without cause. 11. Novice Horse – Not to have won a novice class at any other Show 12. Show Hunter or Show Horse – Same horse cannot be entered or compete as both. Your horse is either a Show Horse OR a Show Hunter. 13. A number System Applies to all classes – Registration of horse and rider when purchasing tickets and before classes. Each individual horse and rider combination must have its own number and be provided to the steward (correctly) at the completion of judging of each class. Individuals who deliberately provide the incorrect number will not be have the result provided or recorded as a qualification to VASA 14. Stallions & Colts are permitted and most welcome but can only be handled and or exhibited by a person 18years and over. There are NO exceptions to this clause. 15. There are no refund on unused tickets. 16. Dogs are welcome. They must be under complete control at all times. 17. All competitors must sign a waiver before entering a class or riding on the ground. 18. The Directors (and or their representative) reserve the right to alter, add, combine or delete any class or classes as they see fit. 19. Unwanted behaviour will not be tolerated. The Ararat Show Society Inc. (Horse Section) is run under the VAS bulling rules. 20. Registration & Current Financial Breed Society memberships must be produced immediately upon request of either Judge, Horse committee Director or their representative.
