The School The International School of Western (ISWA) is a co-educational, non-denominational independent school for Australian and International students from Kindergarten to Year 12. The school is located in the coastal suburb of City Beach, 15 kms west of the City of . ISWA is governed by a Board and managed by the Principal who is supported by a Senior Management Team. ISWA is a small but rapidly growing school. Currently, there are approximately 350 students from Kindergarten through to Year 12, representing more than 40 different nationalities. The school is unique in that it offers internationally accredited educational programs based around a northern hemisphere academic calendar. ISWA prides itself on its small size as a boutique style school that allows individual attention for all students and its welcoming, inclusive community atmosphere. ISWA is divided into two sub-schools: Primary School (K – 6) and Secondary School (7 – 12). The Primary School curriculum follows the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP). In Years 7— 10 students complete the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP). In Years 11 and 12, students can undertake the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB DP), Advanced Placement (AP) or High School (HS). ISWA is the only school in Australia that is accredited to offer the AP Program, which is equivalent to first year college level studies in the USA. ISWA is also an ACT, SAT & PSAT test centre.

IB DP Theatre Arts IB DP Visual Arts A number of DP courses are offered online though IB endorsed Pamoja. Co-curricular Program and Student Leadership A variety of clubs and activities are offered throughout the school and take place before and after school. These include, but are not limited to: National Honor Society, National Junior Honor Society, Student Council, Drama club, UNICEF, a range of Sports, Science club, Music, School Production and Set Design, Dance, Art club, Model United Nations, Robotics and Coding and Engineering Design. The school’s Creativity Action and Service (CAS) component of the Diploma Programme also enables senior students to be involved in a range of self-initiated service projects in the school and local community. Camps, leadership training and field trips are also offered, with a group travelling to Laos in 2015, Cambodia in 2016 and Thailand in 2017, Bali in 2018 for service work. Our service tour for 2019-2020 is Fiji. ISWA offered an exchange program to Shenzen, China in 2018 to provide students with an insight into school, education, culture and life in China. Other experiences have included camping in the south-west of , a week at Ningaloo reef in northern Western Australia, local Western Australian outdoor adventure camps and a leadership camp to Rottnest Island. Year 7 and 8 students also attend a biennial civics and citizenship tour to the capital city, Canberra.
