SUMMER 2020

Dear Parent,

Before providing you with this summer’s reading list I wanted you to have some practical information on finding this material.

This summer’s reading list is very similar to the list published in the last several years, with the exception of the Common Read novel and one of the selections in the general section. So, if you have an older son, or are friends with other loyola families, you may be able to find much of what you need for this summer’s reading requirements. The mandatory French novel, for example, has not changed in 3 years, so there should be copies floating around in the community.

Unfortunately, due to Covid, there is no formal exchange set up by the school.

Buying

Please consider continuing our tradition of purchasing from local independent booksellers.

Many local Montreal bookstores provide online purchasing and shipping services. Some provide free delivery in their area. Your support at this difficult time will be deeply appreciated by these small local book sellers. Here is information regarding Loyola’s major vendors. A more complete list of excellent bookstores can be found at the end of this document.

➢ We had already arranged with one of our major suppliers, Paragraph Books, to bring in all

the titles on the incoming Secondary 1 Summer Reading List for a book sale in April. This

sale obviously did not occur but Paragraph Books has kept all the books in their store so

they have numerous copies of all titles available.

Paragraph Books: They are currently open to the public. Or, you can reach them at email: [email protected] phone (514-845-5811). They are also happy to ship. Shipping charges will be $5.49 for the first book and $1.99 more per extra book.

BABAR Books: Also one of our major suppliers, an excellent independent book store located in the West Island. They have pick up at the store and also provide

free shipping to anywhere in the West Island. They offer shipping outside the

West Island for a flat $7.00 fee.

We have included a more complete list of book stores at the end of this document.
