SOOCHOW UNIVERSITY

Soochow University, founded in 1900 in Suzhou, was the first western-style univer- sity in China.In 1951, a board of directors was created and premises were rented on Hankou Street in downtown Taipei to set up the so-called Soochow Preparatory School. As a result of unbending board principles, efficient school operations, and comprehensive foundation programs, the school has received the Ministry of Education's "Teaching Excellence Program" award for eleven consecutive years since 2005.
