Plot Season 1 Pietro Savastano is the boss of one of the most powerful and influential Camorra clans in Naples. Savastano's right-hand man is the ambitious Ciro Di Marzio, one of the most experienced and cold-blooded soldiers in the clan, who is called Immortal after the survivor of the assassination attempt. When Ciro sets fire to the home of the mother of the boss of the rival clan Salvatore Conte, a war breaks out between the two families, during which Conte flees to Spain. Ciro also takes care of pietro Gennaro's immature son to prepare him for the duties and responsibilities of the future boss of the family. Gennaro was hospitalized after a serious motorcycle accident. When Pietro finds out about it, he takes his car and goes to the hospital. On the way there he is stopped by the police. During the subsequent inspection of the car drugs and several thousand euros in cash were seized, and Pietro was arrested and sent to prison. The clan is then led by Pietro Immakorat's wife, who, however, does not trust Ciro and considers her son Gennaro incompetent. Although Pietro gives orders from prison, Immakorat bypasses her husband and orders Ciro to go to Spain, where he reaches an agreement with Salvatore Conte on a peace agreement and business relations between the clans. She also sends a recovering Gennaro on a dangerous mission to Honduras, where he is to arrange new drug shipments as Pietro's successor. After a long stay in Honduras, Gennaro returns to Naples matured much more serious, cruel and more confident than before. Although Gennaro feels ready to lead the clan, senior members of the Savastano clan do not recognize him as the boss. As Gennaro makes important decisions, more and more surrounds himself with young members of the clan, and Ciro increasingly evades responsibility, Ciro decides to part with the Savastano family with other Camorristi. Behind his back, he has Gennaro Savastano kill confidant Salvatore Conte to provoke a new feud between the Conte and Savastano clans, weakening Gennaro's position. Pietro Savastano, whose health has deteriorated, can no longer issue orders because of the transfer to a maximum security prison (Article 41-bis). Immakorat learns that Ciro is behind the sabotage of the clan. When she confronts him, he kills her immediately after the meeting. Gennaro also finds evidence of the betrayal of the Ciro family. He then kills alleged traitors in the clan, among them many of the older members who still have Pietro Savastano. Ciro and Malammore, one of the most loyal members of the Savastano clan, can avoid being attacked by the people of Jennano. After the killings, Gennaro barricaded himself in Vele di Scampia to prevent the expected attacks of Ciro or Salvatore Conte, who has since returned from Spain. When he learns through an informant sent by Ciro that he will attend his daughter's choral performance, he sends his men to kill him. On the way there, however, they were intercepted and mostly killed by Conte and his men. Gennaro arrives alone in the theater with a kidnapped neighbor boy dressed as a family man, and encounters Ciro. Ciro, who abused his own family as bait and was already waiting for him, is not shy and shoots Gennaro, who goes to the ground. Ciro's daughter and his wife were not injured in the panic. Eventually, Pietro Savastano was taken to another prison in an armored vehicle, and the car was attacked by masked men. After the attackers free Pietro Savastano, Malammore opens up. In the last scene, Gennaro lies shot on the ground and apparently still alive. Season 2 Pietro Savastano learns about his son's life-threatening injuries in his hiding place, but can do nothing for him in his situation. After his recovery, Gennaro first stays with his Central American drug suppliers and arranges deliveries to Europe, his father Pietro hiding in Cologne. Takes over the Savastanos business in Naples and, along with other local bosses, forms a kind of co-op with a central drug purchase through Salvatore Conte, so that Savastanos can not restore a foothold in the face of the closed block. The alliance divides Savastanos' sales zone with each other and agrees to resolve conflicts together. However, their reliance on Conte as a supplier is causing growing discontent. Now Ciro must take more care of his safety and protect his family. His wife admits that Ciro abused his daughter as bait and is considering asking the police to protect both. She was seen by a man on the way to the presidium, but decides to return and returns home. Ciro kills her anyway because she wants to turn her away from him and because of alleged betrayal. Gennaro returns to Europe, finds a major buyer from the Roman builder Don Giuseppe, who is also a member of mafia circles, and begins a relationship with his daughter Azzurra. Meeting with his father in Cologne shows a deep gap between father and son. While Pietro Gennaros demands unconditional support to buy weapons, take revenge and reclaim his territory, Gennaro sees his future in new and much more profitable deals with drugs and real estate in Rome. When Pietro wants to complete the business with his arms supplier, Calabresen, who fell into a non-small man in the Ndrangheta, he and his son were caught up in an armed robbery. Gennaro and Pietro avoid shooting while all the other restaurant guests are shot. On the run from the German police Gennaro brings his emaciated father to safety. After a night in the warehouse Pietro pick up and disappear without saying goodbye. Pietro returns to Naples, Gennaro to Rome. In her secret hideout, Pietro, through a boutique saleswoman, Patricia, Malammore's niece, keeps in touch with her people and organizes anti-allied rallies to divide them. Ciro knows Pietro's back in town, but he can't track him down. Meanwhile, Salvatore Conte has a secret love affair with the transgender singer. When one of his men, 'O Mulatto, was rudely insulted at a party, he was shot and humiliated by Conte. Ciro exploits this conflict, pulls Conte's men to his side and kills him with their help. To prevent war, Ciro meets Gennaro in Trieste. Contrary to his father's orders to kill Ciro, he agrees with him that the Savastano clan will receive a resoman, from which the Ciro union will remain. To do this savasanos do not leave the area. Pietro does not fit into this agreement and now tries to destroy the union of Ciro, fueling internal conflicts. Even gennaro's surviving old youthful pals, such as 'o Track, don't want to be limited and break the agreement. After their punishment, they are transferred to the Ciro Alliance. Azzurra became pregnant and is preparing a wedding with a happy Gennaro. With 'o Principe, he painted one of Ciro's allies on his side. His plan, however, is thwarted by his father, who in turn wants to break the alliance in his own way and aspires to 'o Principe. He shoots 'o Principe, although he shows his collaboration with Gennaro. After Principe's death, suspicion remains only on the only remaining old friend of Ciro O Nano, who needs to escape with his family. However, in his hideout, he was soon shot dead by Pietro's men in front of his family. Ciro does not know who is responsible for the death of his last friend. He suspects one or more of his allies who wanted to avenge The Death of Principe. The alliance disintegrates, and former ally Ciro Schianel again joins Savastanos, but Pietro sends the killers. She can still run on time, but she's on the run. She had previously killed about Track after he sparked a failed attack on her son, who had just been released from prison. She'll drown him just as he killed her brother Cuccinette in the first season. But her son, who had just been released from prison, is also killed. Ciro, who is now on his own, who developed a bite of conscience for all his murders, especially for the murder of his wife, was able to identify Patricia as an envoy at the same time and shadow her in order to track down Pietro. After the chase, Patricia and Pietro can get to the hideout of Ciro Pietro in time. Questo è un conceto fondamentale per comprendere la rifessione onomastica che sta alla base del libro di Saviano. L*obietivo di questo saggio è spiegare questo conceto complesso atraverso alcuni esempi sia onomastici che toponomastici come quelli di Francesco Schiavone, deto “Sandokan” o di Las Vegas, una zona degradata di Napoli Nord che prende il nome dalla famosa cità americana. Luca Musella, fotografo professionista, dopo molti anni di distacco torna a Napoli, sua città natale. All’inizio vuol provare a trasformarsi in quello che con una brutta paro- la si definisce un operatore culturale.Così trasforma il suo studio – eredita- to dai genitori – in un luogo d’incontri e di piccole esposizioni di colleghi fotografi. Ma presto si rende conto che le cose non vanno nella direzione giusta. Luca è un uomo pratico. Ci mette poco a vendere lo studio, situato in una delle zone bene della città e a comprarne un altro nei quartieri spagno- li. La sua teoria, tenuta da conto anche per l’acquisto della casa, dove è an- dato a vivere con la famiglia, si può sintetizzare così: non aver paura di an- dare in zone considerate pericolose, soprattutto se sono contigue a zone di ben altra condizione sociale. Insomma, stai pure nel pericolo, ma tieniti pronta una via di fuga praticabile e vicina. Inutile dire che alla base della teoria di Luca c’è una necessità economi- ca: con i soldi a sua disposizione in altre zone più appetibili della città non avrebbe potuto comprare nulla. Al Pallonetto, invece, è riuscito a trovare un grande appartamento con terrazzo. Insomma, ben presto, il ritorno a Napoli di Luca diventa un problema d’affrontare.

    Nomi e storie delle vittime innocenti delle mafie a cura di Marcello Scaglione e dei ragazzi del Presidio “Francesca Morvillo” di Libera Genova Realizzato in occasione della mostra “900 Nomi vittime di mafia dal 1893 ad oggi” inaugurata ad Imperia il 21 Marzo 2016 in occasione della XXI Giornata della memoria e dell’impegno - ”Ponti di memoria, luoghi di impegno”. I nomi presenti nella mostra sono quelli accertati fino all'anno 2015, ed in particolare quelli letti a Bologna durante la XX Giornata della Memoria e dell'Impegno in ricordo delle vittime innocenti delle mafie (21 marzo 2015). Il lavoro di ricerca, inizialmente limitato a quell'elenco, è stato poi implementato e aggiornato, comprendendo quindi le storie delle vittime innocenti i cui nomi sono stati letti durante la XXI Giornata della Memoria e dell'Impegno (21 marzo 2016). Sarà nostro impegno e cura eseguire successivamente gli aggiornamenti necessari. Siamo inoltre disponibili a intervenire sulle singole storie, laddove dovessero essere ravvisati errori e/o imprecisioni. EMANUELE NOTABARTOLO, 01/02/1893 Nato in una famiglia aristocratica palermitana, presto rimane orfano di entrambi i genitori. Cresciuto in Sicilia, nel 1857 si trasferisce prima a Parigi, poi in Inghilterra, dove conosce Michele Amari e Mariano Stabile, due esuli siciliani che lo influenzeranno molto. Avvicinatosi all'economia e alla storia, diventa sostenitore del liberalismo conservatore (quindi vicino alla Destra storica). Dal 1862 Emanuele Notarbartolo diventa prima reggente, poi titolare, del Banco di Sicilia, al quale si dedica a tempo pieno a partire dal 1876, salvandolo dal fallimento in seguito all'Unità d'Italia. Il suo lavoro al Banco di Sicilia inizia a inimicargli molta gente.

Masterproef voorgedragen tot het behalen van de graad van Master in het Vertalen 2016 Promotor Prof. Dr. Manuela Caniato Vakgroep Vertalen Tolken Communicatie ABSTRACT Questo studio analizza la traduzione di due categorie di realia, cioè i soprannomi e i titoli, nelle versioni nederlandese e francese del libro Gomorra di Roberto Saviano e nei sottotitoli nederlandesi e francesi dell’omonimo film diretto da Matteo Garrone. In questa tesi si esamina quali sono le strategie traduttive utilizzate per la resa dei soprannomi e dei titoli e con quale frequenza esse vengono impiegate. L’individuazione delle strategie traduttive è basata sulla classificazione presentata da Pedersen (2011). L’analisi è basata su un corpus che contiene tutte le frasi e le loro traduzioni in nederlandese e francese in cui sono presenti soprannomi o titoli, sia nel film che nel libro. Oltre all’analisi quantitativa delle strategie traduttive, viene fatta anche un’analisi qualitativa di alcuni esempi. L’analisi dimostra principalmente che nella sottotitolazione l’omissione viene impiegata frequentemente per rendere i soprannomi e i titoli, sia in nederlandese che in francese. Nel libro invece ci sono maggiori differenze tra le due lingue. Nel caso dei soprannomi, la ritenzione è la strategia più frequentemente utilizzata in entrambe le lingue. Questo è anche il caso in nederlandese per la resa dei titoli onorifici e professionali, mentre in francese si opta più spesso per la sostituzione. Anche la strategia della traduzione diretta viene impiegata con una frequenza abbastanza alta in entrambe le lingue per la resa dei titoli.

    A SOCIO-ECONOMIC STUDY OF THE CAMORRA THROUGH JOURNALISM, RELIGION AND FILM by ROBERT SHELTON BELLEW (under the direction of Thomas E. Peterson) ABSTRACT This dissertation is a socio-economic study of the Camorra as portrayed through Roberto Saviano‘s book Gomorra: Viaggio nell'impero economico e nel sogno di dominio della Camorra and Matteo Garrone‘s film, Gomorra. It is difficult to classify Saviano‘s book. Some scholars have labeled Gomorra a ―docufiction‖, suggesting that Saviano took poetic freedoms with his first-person triune accounts. He employs a prose and news reporting style to narrate the story of the Camorra exposing its territory and business connections. The crime organization is studied through Italian journalism, globalized economics, eschatology and neorealistic film. In addition to igniting a cultural debate, Saviano‘s book has fomented a scholarly consideration on the innovativeness of his narrative style. Wu Ming 1 and Alessandro Dal Lago epitomize the two opposing literary camps. Saviano was not yet a licensed reporter when he wrote the book. Unlike the tradition of news reporting in the United States, Italy does not have an established school for professional journalism instruction. In fact, the majority of Italy‘s leading journalists are writers or politicians by trade who have gravitated into the realm of news reporting. There is a heavy literary influence in Italian journalism that would be viewed as too biased for Anglo- American journalists. Yet, this style of writing has produced excellent material for a rich literary production that can be called engagé or political literature. A study of Gomorra will provide information about the impact of the book on current Italian journalism.

    Lifting the lid on Italy’s bluefin tuna fishery Assessment of compliance of Italy’s fishing fleets and farms with management rules during the 2008 bluefin tuna fishing season in the Mediterranean Report published by WWF Mediterranean & WWF Italy, October 2008 Summary This WWF-commissioned report, researched and compiled by independent consultancy ATRT, contains the first in-depth analysis of the role of Italy in the bluefin tuna fishery in the Mediterranean. Its findings confirm the widely held view that Italy is among the main culprits in the region for overfishing and violation of the fishery’s management rules. In April 2008 WWF released a report quantifying for the first time the fishing overcapacity of industrial fleets targeting the stock in the Mediterranean1. That study identified Italy as the leader in overcapacity among EU member states, with an estimated catch capacity for the industrial purse seine fleet twice the national quota allocated to it. The study pointed to the likely underreporting of real catches in the last years, coupled with a systematic violation of international management rules and the overshoot of national quotas. To ascertain the performance of the Italian bluefin tuna fishing industry during the crucial 2008 fishing season, the authors of this report have combined a thorough analysis of trade information with extensive field work. The latter has included the monitoring of Italy’s fleet at sea in real time, as well as the field analysis (through aerial surveys) of bluefin tuna biomass caged in every farm based in Italy, Croatia and Malta. This colossal undertaking has generated the most comprehensive picture yet of the role played by Italian interests in the Mediterranean bluefin tuna fishery, including the extent of compliance (or lack thereof) with international management rules agreed by the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT, the body tasked with sustainably managing the fishery) and the EU.
