This pool must comply with 2012 IBC, IRC, IPMC, and 4-5-1 of the Midlothian Village Code. Applicant must call JULIE (Joint Utility Locators Information Excavators) at 1-800-892-0123 for inspection prior to obtaining permit. Draw a sketch showing exactly where POOL will be placed in relation to your lot lines, garage location, and house. Fill in distances between. ABOVE GROUND SWIMMING POOL GUIDELINES
The Village of Midlothian requires that all aboveground pools have an issued permit prior to beginning any installation. Permit applications may be submitted to the building department between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm, Monday through Friday. POOL APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS The following items must be submitted when applying for pool permit: Completed and signed permit application form. Plat of Survey The pool drawn, showing size and where it will be placed on the lot. The location of the electric meter and electric lines and any other utilities located near the pool site. CALL J.U.L.I.E. at 811 or 1-800-892-0123 Be sure to allow 48 hours for service. FEES An application fee of $75 (per 1,000 cubic feet or fraction thereof) for the pool and $55 for the electrical permit plus $50 inspection fees as required. THE PERMIT Every permit shall become invalid if the work authorized by such permit is not begun within 30 days after its issuance. The permit is to be displayed in the window in front of the house for the duration of the construction and inspection process. After the process is complete, please remove the permit from the window and retain it for your personal records. INSPECTIONS An inspection sticker will be posted on the door or window nearest the inspection site and will indicate PASS or FAIL and include any specific deficiencies or special instructions. STRUCTURAL INFORMATION Fences All swimming pools shall be protected by a fully fenced yard, minimum 4’ foot in height and equipped with gates. Location No portion of a swimming pool shall be located at a distance less than 6’ feet from any side or rear property line or building line. Electrical Power run to the pool must be on a dedicated circuit and hard piped and in a trench 18” deep. A Ground Fault Interrupter, with a clear bubble cover, shall protect the circuit. A ground rod shall be driven into the ground and attached to the pool frame. For overhead power line clearances please reference 2018 Chicago Electrical Code section 680.9.
