PRESS RELEASE Rennes - July 20th, 2021

DEMETA accelerates the industrial deployment of its material NexTene™ for the Oil and Gas sector through the CITEPH innovation program

DEMETA, a French green chemistry company developing next-generation catalysts for the production and marketing of high-performance materials and chemicals, is announcing the renewal for the third consecutive year of the CITEPH funding program, through a consortium made up of TotalEnergies and key players from the value chain, with , , TechnipFMC and Vallourec, for work to develop its NexTene™ resins for and subsea applications.

NexTene™, a high-performance offshore coating and insulation solution for the Oil and Gas industry

Since 2018, with the experts from the companies sponsoring the project, DEMETA has rolled out a multiyear program focused on developing pipeline coatings to improve the deep offshore reliability and durability of facilities handling fluids in high-pressure and high-temperature environments.

Within this framework, the high-performance material NexTene™ has attracted strong interest from industry stakeholders, with support from TotalEnergies and Saipem from 2017, joined by Subsea 7 and Vallourec in 2019 and TechnipFMC in 2020. NexTene™ has confirmed its outstanding mechanical properties and its capacity to effectively respond to thermal insulation and durability issues in corrosive environments. Its benefits include freedom from the limits involved with traditional materials in extreme conditions (pressures up to 300 or 400 bars, temperatures over 130°C) and the significant mechanical constraints involved with fitting and servicing pipelines.

Following the selection phases covering several formulations available with NexTene™, the CITEPH 2021 program aims to focus research efforts on the material’s long-term aging. The next stage of the CITEPH project, currently being set up for 2022 and subject to the success of the 2021 stage, will be to validate the industrial and to realize various performance tests, in particular bending, in order to simulate the reeling and laying of pipes.

“We would like to thank all of the companies that are part of CITEPH for their continued confidence and trust. This reinforces our determination to find increasingly high-performance and responsible solutions for the Oil and Gas sector. The various levels of exchanges with the project’s corporate sponsors and the pooling of our resources and expertise represent valuable accelerators as we look to enhance NexTene’s development in a highly demanding sector. As the project owner, we are proud to be working closely with the industry to further strengthen French technological excellence in the energy sector”, confirms Patrick Piot, DEMETA’s CEO.

About DEMETA Founded in 2011, DEMETA is a Green Chemistry company specialized in developing next-generation catalysts for the production of high-performance materials and chemicals. The catalysts developed and patented by DEMETA are molecular tools used at very low dosage that simplify chemistry, making it possible to develop efficient, eco-responsible, safer and more competitive processes and products.

1/2 With its first technology platform, DEMETA develops and markets NexTene™, a family of high-performance and low- carbon footprint materials adapted for extreme conditions, serving various markets, from energy to composite materials and other industrial applications. With its second technology platform GreenCARE, DEMETA develops specialty bio-based molecules, such as cosmetic ingredients, flavors and fragrances, pigments and dyes. DEMETA is committed to the ecological transition. All of its products contribute to the European Commission’s 2030 targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and strengthening energy efficiency. DEMETA is supported by the European Commission through the highly selective EIC Accelerator Pilot financing program. To learn more about DEMETA, visit https://demeta-solutions.com/en/.

About CITEPH CITEPH is an open innovation program allowing access to private financing for R&D projects. This program gathers 14 leading companies and is managed and led by the association EVOLEN. The purpose of CITEPH is to speed up innovation in the field of energy, from production to consumption, including processing, storage, transportation and distribution. This program aims to spring out solutions that meet the energy and environmental challenges, for a more accessible and more reliable, but also cleaner energy, fully fitting within the Energy transition. This program is an outstanding accelerator for development, through 280 projects funded since 2008 for 101 million euros, with 50% from CITEPH member companies.
