Changes to the Connect2 Wiltshire
Bus services in the Pewsey & Devizes area
from 29th August 2017
Following the retendering and consultation exercise that we undertook last month, we will be introducing several changes to the Pewsey Vale Connect2 Wiltshire services on 29th August 2017. These will affect the timetables, fares and vehicles and are necessary to enable the service to operate more cost effectively.
Unfortunately, the existing Connect2 Wiltshire network is very expensive to provide because it requires three buses to operate it. We have therefore revised the timetable so that the majority of journeys can operated by two buses, and have also removed some journeys that were used by very few passengers.
The new timetables are included in this leaflet and although they are similar to those that were proposed in the consultation leaflet, where possible we have modified them to incorporate some of the requests and feedback we received. This includes additional journeys on route 103 on certain days and retaining the link to Devizes from Broadfields Estate in Pewsey.
We regret, however that it will not be possible for us to continue providing the early morning and late afternoon “Rail Link” buses to/from Pewsey Station. We realise that this will come as a great disappointment to the small number of people that use these buses to connect with trains at Pewsey, but sadly these journeys are very expensive to provide and are currently only used by a very small number of people. If you need to travel from Devizes to catch a train to London, alternative facilities are available by using Stagecoach bus service 49 to Swindon, from where trains run more frequently to London than from Pewsey.
From the same date, we will also be making some changes to the fares charged on services 101, 102 & 103. However Concessionary bus passes will still be accepted for travel on these services after 0830 on weekdays and at any time on Saturdays, and any 10-journey tickets that you have purchased at the old rates will still be accepted for travel.
Finally, as part of these changes, operation of the Pewsey Vale Connect2 Wiltshire services is being taken over by “Salisbury Reds” Tourist Coaches subsidiary. This means that newer red buses will normally be used to operate these services, rather than the current green ones which are being retired. The regular Connect2 Wiltshire driving team will also be joined by some new faces, who will be helping out during the first few weeks.

In the afternoon please catch bus 102 which departs from Devizes at 1340 and tell the driver that you wish to alight at Broadfields in Pewsey.
