FINCH WEST LRT – Transforming Transit in Your Area

Construction Notice Information as of April 9, 2020 What is the Finch West Light Rail Transit (LRT)? The Finch West LRT is a light rail transit project that will bring 11 kilometres of modern, reliable rapid transit to northwest Toronto. It will have 18 stops, including 16 surface stops, plus an underground interchange station at Finch West subway. A below-grade terminal stop at Humber College will connect to other local transit services like GO, MiWay, Viva, and Züm. The Finch West LRT will provide rapid transit for the Jamestown, Rexdale and Black Creek neighbourhoods, as well as vital connections between communities and supporting growth in northwest Toronto.

What: As part of preparatory works to expand Finch Ave. W. to accommodate the Finch West LRT line, crews will begin with road widening along the west side of Hwy. 27 from the Humber River to north of Finch Ave. W. Work will begin in early May and take approximately five (5) weeks.

Hours of Work: • Monday to Friday from 7 AM to 7 PM. Work will occur day, night and weekend, as required. • Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

What to Expect: • Road widening on the west side of Hwy. 27 from the Humber River to approximately 80 metres north of Finch Ave. W. • Heavy trucks and equipment in the area. • Some noise and dust related to construction. • Expect delays near work zones.

Pedestrian Details: • The sidewalk on the west side of Hwy. 27 will be closed between Humber College Blvd. and Finch Ave. W. Pedestrians will be re-routed through a residential neighbourhood. • Access to schools, churches, and businesses will be maintained. • Please take extra care when walking near work sites, and always make eye contact with the driver before crossing in front of any equipment or vehicle.

Traffic Details: • Southbound lanes on Hwy. 27 W. reduced to one from two. • Occasional closure of the curb lane on Finch Ave. W. • Occasional closure of the curb lane on Humber College Blvd. • A minimum of one (1) lane of traffic in each direction along Hwy. 27, Finch Ave. W., and Humber College Blvd. will be maintained at all times. • Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained. Bus Stop Relocations/Closures: • TTC bus stops in the affected area may be relocated for the safety of transit riders. Please watch for posted signs indicating the adjusted locations. • Relocation and re-routing of bus stops are done in consultation with TTC to ensure transit riders safety during construction. • Access to the TTC will be maintained at all times. • Please visit www.ttc.ca for more information.
