ST. BRIGID IS MY HOME - by Gina Urwin and Family

When our family was asked to write a few paragraphs why “St. Brigid is Our Home,” it was an honor and an easy task. My husband, Patrick, and I are OSU Alumni and we joined St. Brigid of Kildare Church in October 1995, shortly after moving into our home and deciding to start our family in Dub- lin. We have two boys at Coffman HS. Matthew is a senior, plays varsity tennis and is a violinist for Chamber Orchestra and yes, is going through the college selection process. Sam is a freshman and plays soccer and basketball for Coffman. We have very fond memories of celebrating the boys’ Bap- tism, First Communion and Confirmation at St. Brigid along with our extended families. We thank all the wonderful reli- gious education teachers and aides from kindergarten to 8 th grade, who have guided our boys and also celebrated these sac- raments with us. Matt and Sam continue to serve God and the Church as altar servers, they both began serving in middle school and enjoy helping out during Mass.

As our boys got older, I wanted to become more involved at St. Brigid. I always wanted to be a Eucharistic Minister, but the thought of going up to the altar was a little out of my comfort zone. It took me a long time and a lot of courage to finally get off the fence. This is now my second year as a Eucharistic Minister and in hindsight, I should have done it much sooner. It is such a gratifying feeling serving during Mass and to see so many families that attend Mass and so many familiar faces every week. We have gotten to know many wonderful families at St. Brigid, many that we see at the kids’ sports events and activities and our kids have gone to school with from Scottish Corners to Karrer MS and Coffman HS. It has been such a blessing and pleasure to give back to this St. Brigid communi- ty, who has already given so much to our family. God bless.
