Presentation of historical and recent data including a bibliography. – The present study comprises an extensive investigation on taxonomy and distribution of the genus Theodoxus Montfort, 1810 in Germany. About 763 literature sources were analysed and the locations were refer- enced geographically and digitised. Furthermore several collections of museums and private persons were checked. Alto- gether more than 3800 records could be integrated within a data base. The following species could be observed in Germany recently: T. fl uviatilis (Linnaeus, 1758), T. danubialis (C. Pfeiffer, 1828) and T. transversalis (C. Pfeiffer, 1828). T. serrati- liniformis (Geyer, 1914), a species of the Pleistocene, will understand as a synonym of T. danubialis. Furthermore, the study demonstrates the futility of separating of the subspecies T. fl uviatilis littoralis. Following an introductory overview each spe- cies will be discussed with regard to the federal states and a bibliography will given. All known waterbodies with historical and recent records will be listed. For each state the distribution is pictured in a map in relation to the time of observation. > Kurzfassung Die vorliegende Studie beinhaltet eine ausführliche Recherche zur Taxonomie und Verbreitung der Gattung Theodoxus Montfort, 1810 in Deutschland.
